Larrio, I dont believe I need to tell who I talked with about the body on the board. It does not do Tamiya or me any good. If you are from Tamiya you are welcome to call about the problem. Our phone number is on our website. As for the body, they are mold marks! I have only ever used or had bodies from 1 piece molds so this is why I asked the question. I am disappointed in the body mold lines but they will not be real noticable once the body is painted exect for the windows that are clear. I was just use the the quality of Tamiya is why I asked this question in the first place. |

The irony on your comment about mold marks is that many consider it a sign of Tamiya quality, since we use three-piece molds (which makes us the only one in the industry to my knowledge). To produce more accurate detail requires a more complex mold that will inevitably put mold marks on the final product. It'd be like purchasing a high performance car and complaining that it gets poor gas mileage. | |

larrio, it is not a defect it is a body mold line, I looked at JIA body pictures that he was talking about and his has them also. Never having a tamiya with a lexan body (always been hard shells) it caught me off guard. Normally everything is perfect on the kits, this is why I thought it was a defect. On the 2 piece mold that my mold maker made for me one time, you could not see the marks. |

| Check out the box pictures
I was shocked when I first pulled the body of of the box and saw those mold lines. I came right here to look at some finished jobs. They all had the mold lines. I then went to the box and noticed the pictures of completed models displayed on the sides show mold marks. Also the pics in the instruction manual show the same marks. At least Tamiya is honest in it's representations. They don't seem so bad now that I know everyone else has 'em. The detail is awesome on this body! I've owned a 1/1 Cruiser just like this kit for over 20 years and I know every nook and cranny of my beloved Cruiser. Those nooks and crannys are all there in the 1/10 too. I really like that it is an earlier Cruiser represented in the kit. No ambulance doors, the drop down wipers and little turn signals are the kind of details that often get mixed up in Cruiser models. Tamiya did their homework. I'm pleased. |

hi the only mold-lines, that don't really disappear by painting, are those, that cross the rear side-windows. however i think the body itself is really great. there is a whole lot of details tamyia put on those bodies. after some roll-overs those lines are the least ugly spots on the body. |

Forgive me for failing to provide a link, but somewhere I have seen one of the Tamiya FJ40 shells that someone has cut the windows from, and then replaced them with new pieces of lexan. The idea was just to provide a more realistic join between frames and windows (so they don't look like they are the same material), but it also had the effect of removing the line through the back windows. I love my FJ shell. So much so, I've just bought a second one (Tamiya, not Pro-line). I want one for beating up, and one for showing off. Had I known about the Pro-line before I used the shell provided with the kit, I'd have used a Pro-line for the beater, since my understanding is that they are a thicker lexan. Is that right? |

I haven't even thought about the mold release lines since my body was painted, not even noticeable. At this point I'm thinking of ordering another body just for the shelf
