Default CR-01 FJ Cruiser with hop-ups

I swapped my F350 high lift that was heavily modified, for this CR-01.

She was in excellent condition, the usual bumps, scratches and bruises. First thing I did was install my 21.5 turn brushless motor on the hop-up motor plate, and install that into the gearbox.

Next I striped the rims and tires, and resprayed the rims. As you can see the rims in the picture are standard black. I sprayed the rim Tamiya Gun Metal, and the beadlocks Plascon Sea Blue.

I added about 90 grams of weight in each tire, the put the whole thing back together again. All those little screws are killer on the fingers.

More to come. All the parts are on order from eBay, so they will arrive in about 7 days.

Sad to see this little rig go, gong to seriously miss it. Glad to see you making it your own and enjoying it. Will stay tuned to see what you get up to with it.

Cheers

As usual, I went and bought things before I knew what I was buying. I went and bought the stabilizer spring before I knew I didn't need them...

This is the articulation without those little springs installed:

Much better...

Tamiya motor plate hop up:

And I got a couple of sets of these:

More to follow...

Had sometime to sort out my 4WS on the CR01.

This is not the servo I'm using, just one I had lying around. I used the channel mixing feature on the DX3S. I plugged the servo into the "aux" channel and mixed that with the steering channel. Now I can set from 0 - 100% mixing, giving me zero to 100% rear steering. And if I set the mixing to -100%, I get crab steering.

Update...

My postbox contained a little gift today. I finally got my reinforced driveshafts and diff lock kits (part number 5410

Unpacked and here are the contents

And now the long process of striping the diff down to replace the internals...

The original internals

The replacements

And well, the result is no more rocking back and forth. And a much stronger drivetrain.

Last addition is this Yeah Racing roof rack with 4 spot lights.

I'll go get some LEDs for the roof rack and install them soon.

Good upgrades you may also want to upgrade the wheel axles part#54048.

Looks awesome. Wish I had one like yours. I have a CK now from HPI and while it works great for what I do I really want a Tamiya CR-01.

When I look at threads like this I want one more and more. Guess I need to either buy a new one or look for a nice used one.
