| R/C Buttercup… Land Cruiser - 80 series R/C Buttercup… When I was a kid, I had a few R/C models, but I never was hooked into it… I was and I’m still addicted to Die Cast (1/64)… I never dedicated money and time to R/C crawlers until now… I own a Toyota Land Cruiser - 80 series (actually Lexus LX450) so having a toy that matches my rig becomes a cool idea… But, prices of R/C crawlers are not exactly friendly to my wallet… requires between $500-$1000 for the R/C car, controler, batteries, and charger and that is equal to a winch for my real truck!!! hello!!! So, I ended up buying a used one via Craiglist, no manuals, no nothing, but half or less the price of a brand new one… I keep it in storage for a while, and then I bought the shell, then the batteries and charger… and finally, dedicated some time to play with it… I still consider it as an expensive hobby, but if I don’t move further into it, I’m OK. I’m done with the shell, but I’m learning how to drive it, so roll-over happens often… therefore, mirrors and other accessories will wait for a while… I bought the must expensive snorkel ever, it looks great!!! I build my own shovel carrier (wind deflector) to match my 1/1 rig… Eventually, working lights could be a simple task (I guess) to accomplish… some pics here... https://picasaweb.google.com/1003956...10RCButtercup# Last edited by rmirandayopo; 04-29-2011 at 06:43 PM. |

the 80 series body is sweet. I saw pics of Carlos's a year ago or so & had to have one. Shipping adds a bit to the price but it's a well done body, good masks & detailed sticker sheet. I'm going to put mine on an SCX10. P.S. in reference to tearing up bodies & roll overs. I always keep two bodies, one for go & one for show. No mirrors & or scale goodies on my beater body. | |

two bodies, that is the way to go!!! Andres, I'm not shocked to find you here as well... kind of expect that... I don't know what I want from it, I like the idea of crawling, but I like even more that matches somehow my real truck... all periferics are not extremelly expensive, is just assigning yourself a budget and play with it... otherwhise, you'll be in trouble in a blink of an eye... as you said, the US is Disneyland for R/C toys... I have my own waterfall at the backyard, everytime I go wheeling, I'll bring some rocks home... but you need someone to play with and challenge yourself... playing alone, not fun at all... I'll love the idea os making videos, but I'm not savvy with computer programs, so I have row material, but editing is another page... I was reading that changing the motor is the difference to get more real movements and more power to crawl... with the motor that I have right now, it is a toy, period, you can't have that acceleration in a real crawler... not yet! |

| Nice 80
I have the Tamiya Toyota FJ-40 and am now running the Novak 55 turned motor, and what a difference from the original can motor. Better control and re-acts like the real thing. Thanks for the videos & pic's. |

I'll swap engine in some point... meanwhile... I decided to bring R/C Buttercup with me to a MTB ride... the Cholla uphill trail, 1/2 mile long, I normally do it with no stops... yesterday, with the extra weight, I stopped 3 times, even with motivation (cute girl in from of me)... bummer! Anyhow, the shot going up the huge rock, I can't use it, it's too long... more that a minute...the software did not like it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzicYevKgfI |

nice! Looks like a great spot for trucks and bikes. In the future, a little footage of the cute girl in front of you wouldn't hurt.
