well after todays competition in St George, UT, im sure of two things. i need to make myself a new set of moab/masher hybrids... and THIS THING KICKS ASS!!!

with the new link setup and 3racing mini LST shocks it drives better than it ever has before! with 10min of drivetime on the rig i pulled out the best scores ive ever managed. today was th best day of competition ive had to date. i placed 17th out of 70 2.2 drivers, no trophies but im totally stoked about it!

well.... i loved the sprung mini lst setup, but after driving rizzo's blackjack a couple times i had to go back to droop.

totally fed up with traxxas shocks and not much of a losi fan, i decided to piece together some associated factory team GT2 front shocks. they are the perfect length. we would typically put a 3/8" piece of fuel tubing inside the 3.5" shocks to limit them to 3 1/8". these shocks are already 3 1/8" meaning no limiters have to be added. i assembled them this morning with C-620 (century spring inc.) internal springs and 80wt oil. they take some time to put together but if you're meticulous enough and take your time they'll work flawlessly.

my rig gained a little bit of articulation out of swapping to these shocks, which is ok. the most important thing to me though is the low COG and massive break over of a drooped blackjack. now i just gotta get my steering servo rebuilt (stripped a gear) and it'll be back in action.

no the electronics are not mounted yet. since im droop now i can slam the body again so the velro mounts are gone and as a result of that ill need to reconfigure my electronics mounting.

oh yeah ground clearance is now 2 7/8" at full droop its 4 1/4". top of the chassis is at 4 3/4" tallest point on the truck is the spur gear at 5 13/16". top of the trans its self is 5" exactly. only about 1/32" taller than the tires.

Your blackjack was I think the second one I've ever seen (rizzos was first), and it still amazes me when I look at it.

I still think its amazing how low the stance of the truck is, yet it achieves 4+" of clearance drooped.

Mine get around 3" max on a TLT GC2 and Axial narrowed chassis truck. I would like to see how different one would drive than a rig setup like a Gatekeeper or SW3 type chassis.

yeah rizzo built his up a couple days before me, we've both rebuilt 3-4 times now lol! we started with the scrap aluminum that the machine shop had laying around, then swapped to the production 6061 aluminum plates no we're both using titanium chassis plates.
