You can pick up Piano or also called music wire at your LHS. Quote:
Man it drives like crap! he he I drove Torry's rig last year and was extremely impressed at the way it handled. Very predictable, stable, especially on off camber situations. When off camber and you have one of your front wheels in the air all you have to do is get the opposing rear tire to hook up and it drops your front tire down. I'm currently in 2nd place outta 48 competitors in this winter series. The rig has a little something to do with that. Quote:
Also want to thank all you PNWer's for the props. You know who you are!

Here's a close up of the rods mounted to the stays. Axle mounting plates were fabbed up. The front axle plate will hold the motor, GD600, and Hitec 5995. For the rear I chose to mount the Mamba Max and Hitec 645 for the dig. Everything will sit nice and low on this rig. Third links were added to reduce possible axle wrap. I'm on the home stretch now!! Its Tranny Time!! For the 2gen XXX Losi tranny to sit solid, I used a couple of the spacers found in the TLT kit. Even with only two screws holding the tranny, it has held tight for 6months. Installed the motor and GD600 to the front axle plate. Thats purdy lookin'!! I used Traxxas Stampede steel drive yokes and Jato drive shafts to connect the GD600 to the XXX Losi tranny. Stay tuned. |

Wow that is a unusual departure from 99% of the current comp rig designs.

Noob question time. Is the seemingly cantilevered effect of the torsion wires themselves that make this such a popular truck? Are those sideplates to be used as shock towers?

Oh, and btw that truck is awesome and if it performs as well as they say it will, I am building one. My current torsion is not very good and could use damping of some kind.

| All that needs to be installed now is the electronics. Installed the Hitec 645 and the Mamba Max to the rear axle plate. The servos are spliced and connected to the CC BEC. Only the signal wires are plugged into the Nomadio transceiver. The Hitec 5995 was installed to the front axle plate. Buttoning things up. The last thing to do was wire and solder the rest of the electronics. Power is supplied by a 1320mah 11.1v 3S Lipo. I hope to get some vids before I take off for a little R&R for a couple of days. Hopefully I'll be sportin' my new RCC Team Driver lid soon. When it arrives I'll make sure to post. |

Looks very good Mike, I like the highsteer knuckles from TammiesHobbies ....your workspace is still too clean, how can you lose anything when it's like that:-P |

If you notice the front plates you'll see a rectangular hole. That is where the servo arm sits when the servo is reversed. I may revisit it when I raise the chassis a 1/4 inch. There have been times I can get the rig to completely sit on its side when I get in an off camber situation and can drive it off from that position. So I think I can sacrifice a little CG for more clearance.

Nice build pics Mike. I do appreciate it. Since I know you tore it down to do the build pics ;) I had a hard time seeing the wires crossover in my minds eye. the pics helped a lot. What is your opinion on a heavy wheel tire setup, with a torsion truck and what do yours weigh in at? -peter- |

I haven't weighed my tires but I have been running JP's Kreepy reds in the front and stock in the rears. Ben's MSD Top Guns are a perfect weight. No other weight needed but the foams in my opinion. I've tested running a lighter setup and also tried running the weight even front and rear with different wheel tire combos but this seems to be the perfect setup for my application. damn dude this one cool build,i want one.You really got my mind a spinnin now, wouldnt be cool to build a pillow block to hold the pinion gear on the chassis and put the spur back on the tranny then you could get rid of the bulkey and high c.g. of the gear reduction unit. Then you would just run youre drivline to the pinion mounted in the pillow block.Just an idea that popped in into my scull. And maybe you could build another motor mount that would lay that motor down behind the axle all nice in low in stuff.Just some ideas to bounce off ya,be kind of a beotch to build but it would be coolness and nice and eavan low c.g. |

Mike, this is without compare when it comes to build threads. Not only a photographic step by step, but a how too as well. And we here in the PNW know how damn effective this rig is, much to our dismay And again props to I.B. Racin, the man behind the myth. |
