With the motor out to the side you shouldn't have too many problems. Just don't go dropping the truck from 50ft on the side that has motor hanging out... Though, if you dropped it from 50 ft, I bet you have more than just that to worry about.

Weight balance? isnt this something to consider when you have something like a motor hanging off one side of a chassis? As well as the orientation of the shafts themselfs. I would try to center the motor itself as much as possible. That usualy involves a wide chassis. but hey give it a go I have been toying with the pc in finding something "diffrent" in layout to get CG lower and more centralised.

The way the tranny is, you'd have to have a high motor for centered shafts or a motor way out to the side for centered shafts. Hence the reason I ditched my pede tranny. Its too tall of a tranny.

Yes, it can be done successfully!

Here is the build up thread : The Wife's 2.2 is done.....

As you can see the motor is way off to one side but it works....

And as proof of how well it works.... at the last ORCRC Comp There was (10) 2.2 entries - (9) of those where Bulu's and then there was mine. I placed 2nd and I was even running a full size 7.2 V battery pack....

The losi tranny is like .5-.75" shorter than the pede tranny, but it is also half the weight. My losi tranny came with sliders. I'll have to dig up the parts sheet to convert the losi to a slider'd tranny, but they came with sliders on all of the spec kits.

O_o
which car/truck did this come with??? I wanted to use a losi but the one I have and others I have seen are hardened yokes which are intergrated into the diff assembly. Is this a older JRXT era tranny??

I haven't noticed the motor/tranny getting hung up at all. since those pictures have been taken, I do now have skid plate on it for the bottom of the chassis.

Heres a picture of the bottom now.... BTW I did somehow drive into that position but couldn't get out of it on my own.....

Mine is out of a losi XXX-T spec racer. They were the losi's with blue tires like this buggy:

The only parts you would have to swap out of such a tranny is the ball diff out puts. It uses the same ball diff gear as the MF editions and normal losi's, but the out put yokes are a little longer and drilled for the yoke balls.

I'll look for part numbers today.
