| TLT axles + stampede tranny - what should I do now?
I have a pair of TLT axles and a stampede tranny and proline crawler tires and 2.2 wheels and want to build a sweet crawlin machine. I have like 3 big wound brushed 540 motors and a few big wind escs too. Any ideas about chassis and such? I can make my own links and wanna go cheep too. Thanks in advance.

I think a SW3 would be a great platform for the gear you have on hand.

Hmm. Those are kinda hard to come by. May have to just wing it with something from ebay. Wonder if I can get like ax10 chassis plates to work?

I don't think he's making them anymore, he's on to newer designs. I think I still have one in the parts box out in the shop actually.

Who is making the new stuff? Has everything just moved on or has everybody gone scaler and dropped the comp stuff?

Now, if you look around you'll probably find a used SW or Bulu, but it'd take less time to whip out the saw and the drill. I mean if you're gonna go old skool, go all the way and make your own | |

Billet Works is who made the slingshot. I agree with Microgoat, build your own if you have any tools, a drill and dremel is all you really need. A lot of folks have converted their TLT's into scalers, since they are narrower and can fit the tires inside the body easier. |

My first rig 2rs ago was a torsion with TLTs under it. Since I already had the spare parts for the axles, I bought TLTs again for my second and then third rig. The BMV torsion has since become a scaler with the other two. Only one rig has a newer gearbox(R2), the other two are used buggy boxes. One from an XXXT and the other a Pede. The Pede is in an 11lb + all steel, 1:9scale JK. All steel gears, packed with grease, has not let me down yet. The XXXT gearbox is on a narrow scaler chassis with the motor hanging over the rail on one side. To balance it out, the batts are on the opposite side. Is the Pede trans you have already locked? ie. the differential gears in the main output have been jammed with an extra gear or filled with epoxy? Does it have a slipper clutch on it? Is it in decent shape and you can lock it down pretty hard? My kids run all my rigs, so I still have slippers on two of them to save the drivetrane. Last edited by sweli; 01-14-2011 at 08:13 PM. |

If you are after more of a sportsman rig than a scaler, there are chassis FS in the classifieds. Buy a star or post a few more to get permissions. drtrydr2000 has a SWX chassis and lower links for $50 dynamaxxed has a diablo chassis, skid, and all links for $50 mxracer33x has a SWX with all links, from November. |
