How wide/long is a Pede tranny? I'm making a chassis for one without it here and made it 4" inside, hoping it will fit crossways. I know my Evaders tranny will, but I dont feel like tearing it apart for just the tranny as it is my jump tuck Also how tall is it?

I would run plastic spurs, better than repairing internals of a trans!Check tower for many spur options!

I like to use platic spurs as a weak spot. They are cheap and easy to replace. That way you don't have to rip apart your whole truck.

As to the stock TLT tranny, I've thought long and hard about how to improve it w/o spending too much time/money in the process. This is about all you can do cheaply and easily: low-buck TLT... The real killer with the stock TLT tranny is how far the motor is from the differential due to the belt driven design. It kills the COG. It would have been easy for Tamiya to either shorten the belt or incorporate another gearset to lower the motor in the frame and improve the COG in the original design, I have no idea why they felt the motor had to be so high in the frame. I'm going with an XXXT or something similar (whatever I can find that's not too big, that's where threads like this are handy - thanks for the effort) and either hacking up my stock chassis to fit it or making a new chassis entirely. I originally got into rc crawling just for fun and kept it on a budget, but just like anything else I've ever gotten into "for fun", now I want to compete against others in real comps and see how I do. And the stock TLT tranny ain't going to cut it. Last edited by Big Mike; 02-07-2007 at 07:02 AM. |

Should'nt the R2 from RC4WD be added to this list? It blows all of the other options out of the water for only $30 more than a stock stampede tranny.
