Default Another friggin stick?

Broke down tonight and built a stick. Inspired by Cole82. I had to rebuild my axle and chassis anyway so I thought I'd try it. Simple to build. It's a little trickey getting the WB even on both sides but not bad. Having trouble keeping rear driveshaft on though. The threads are pretty much gone in the rear yoke. I have a brand new set but was hoping to reuse these until they break. Now that there's no suspension, is it going to put alot more stress on the whole drivetrain? Still have a bit of twaeking to do but I figured, what the hay. Comments welcome.

i tried this way of making the stick and have allready taken it appart. it only flexes well to one side. down the middle is the way to go.

Yea, I difinately need to make a few adjustments. Still spinning the wheels on the whole "stick" idea. Ultimately, this setup or something similar with good articulation would be the deal. I'll keep it updated. Thanks.

Looks good. If you want more flex try cutting a slit down the chassis. The length of the slit will determine the flex, in theroy.

What? Mine doesn't flex uneven. About 1.5" both directions.

i've done the angle stick and now i've tried the straight stick and they both have poor flex.... i really like the design of the angle stick...

cole82 do you have any pics of the slice in the chassy for better flex?

i use a piece of angle alum. 3/4 x 3/4 by 1/16th i carefully cut it in my band saw to remove as much material as i can to weaken it without making it too weak. one of my flexiest ones flexed 5 inches with just pede wheels no wideners... one drop and it broke in half though!

You might be having the same problem I was with your driveshaft. The axles will try to rotate if they're not held in place. If you aded a lower link to keep your axles perpendicular to the stick, it may keep your drivehsafts in place.

No it's just an idea I had. Have not tried it.
It crawls really well with very little flex allready, so I don't want to screw it up.

If you have all the bolts tight you don't need a bottum link. Just the triangle link.

when you say very little flex...just how much "little" flex are you talking about?

i have a " TS " clod and it flexes quite a bit....so thats what i'm going by...

i saw you said 1.5in is that what you have as in flex (ground to bottom of tire)? because if 1.5in is what flex you have then thats what i have and i'll give it a try...

Yep exactly what I was talking about. 1.5" from tire to ground.

I think it's back to the drawing board. I'm going to try to incorporate short springs to the setup.

It's done. Nevermind the springs. What a difference it made with 2 rails. I made a pivot point at the servo mounts to get flex. Works as good as it did with springs. Can't wait to test it out.
