Default Meeting up

Quote:
We should hook up some afternoon if possible. I've had no luck finding any good places here in sac.--rckjeep
Some weekend would be good. I think that the best places to crawl around here (Rocklin/Roseville) are Folsom Lake or down at the American River. Almost anywhere in Sac you can go to the American river and crawl the rocks.

Some time when you get the itch, pm me an we'll see what is going on.

Maybe we should prep our rigs and all try to meet up at Folsom Lake some time in the next month. I can scout out a spot if you guys don't know where to go. Maybe Granite Bay area.

There is places at Granite Bay and Rattlesnake Bar that I take my 1:1 to that should be good for RC crawling. Let's put something together. There is always Tonys place too.

Dosn't that look fun?

Default Pics of Tony's Place

This guy we know who is a professional rock crawler (1:1) and has a large rock pile for a front yard that Sunday Jeepers won't go over. He drives for Mountain Dew and is seen below driving his electric tuber. It is located near Lincoln, CA. So here are some pics and if you locals want to meet up some time we can see if he'll let us play there. Warning: Big rocks!

Default Tracer Driveshaft broke

Ok here's the low down...

I had to replace another belt in my stock TLT tranny. I took it apart and put the new belt on. I took a look at the drive-lines when I did this. I saw a pin in a driveshaft out of center, so I needed to re-center it.

I have had lots of trouble with the pins at each end of the shaft falling out. So, I was re-inserting a pin that was sliding out of place when I notice a crack in the driveline. It cracked at the thinnest place. I just emailed Junfac to see about getting another one.

I have a pede tranny that is about to become my transmission. I am getting sick of the stock trans. God save the junfac. It is time to change for me. The tracer chassis is GREAT, but the stock transmission SUCKS for me.

Sum: Tracer Chassis good. TLT stock transmission bad.

Default Near the end...

OK. So the stock TLT transmission is NOT for serious crawlers! I am only a sort-of-serious part-time crawler and the belt slipped. I had trouble with the Junfac Tracer drivelines falling out when the end pins slipped out. So....

Tracer Driveline design SUCKS (for me)! Stock TLT tranny is being switched to Stampede trans. But...

This won't fit in Tracer chassis.

So..one thing I learned here.... EVERYTHING IS CUSTOM, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One last vid will be posted soon from this build and then I will end this doomed thread. peace.

Yeah, my tracer stuff turned into scrap pieces for my new build around a stealth transmission. I didn't have belt problems like Tom did (I guess I designed my belt tentioner right ), but I wanted to get rid of it before I did have problems.

No creative cutting of the Tracer will allow the Pede trans to fit? Is the width not the same as a stock TLT? I thought it was... If it is, a little trimming off the bottom of the plates and you should be able to get the trans to fit.

The pede tranny wont fit because suspension is a bit in the way. Sure, some creavtivity will solve it, but then why not just be more creative and do it right? So, that is the next build I am starting. I am going to try a laydown with the pede. I may just modify the tracer or stock TLT chassis, but likely it's not worth the time when i want to change the suspension placement some too. So I am looking at my options now for this laydown TLT chassis. So what do you think? Should I just cut one or buy?

SW2, BULU 2, BBY's RBX, or Jefferson ???????

hmmmmmm

and a couple of vids coming soon to say goodbye to the belt drive TLT tranny and crappy Tracer dogbones...

Great video. Loved the subliminal images... If you replace the Tracer with something else, keep the Tracer links, those are awesome!

I just haven't made it yet. True, there isn't much to show though.

Oh sure, show me flipping over tons of times... It is hard to do that little ditch justice on how steep the walls really are. I was pretty impressed how well I did. I think if I lowered my ground clearance a tad I would be set.

Ahh my old Tracer Jeep. Those little rocks ate it up. Bring on the Boulders!!

My new build is almost done. Modified tracer chasis, stealth trans, max shafts, triangulated 4-link, more to come.

OK, This thread officially DEAD. Shoot it, beat it, bury it.

I have nothing left to say except I am moving on to a pede tranny with Jefferson chassis.

Now sing with me: Mooooving on up...to the top...

THE END

His belt was slipping, not the diff. He has since moved onto the Pede trans and isn't looking back. His new rig does pretty good and with the Hummer body, it self-rights really well.
