| Front end suck-down on the fly… I searched around and didn’t see much here on sucking the front end of a crawler down so I got a wild hair and gave it a shot. This is activated by a servo mounted in front of the transmission. Still need to do some work to see if I can get the front to compress a little more. Looks very rough right now but it does work. I tried it out on a couple steep climbs and it seemed to help out. Waiting on batteries to get here so I can build a 2/3A pack to sit on both sides of the chassis up front. Not sure if it was worth the work but was fun messing with it. Here are a few pictures, Ed |

Cool man. I have this video of a GTG we had that has a 2.2 Clod that used a servo to suck down both ends of the truck. It totally works. You can see where the truck won't make it up some steep stuff because it rolls over backwards, until he sucked it down and it went up. So, to me, it was worth it. I should rehost that video...

Did you get your hydro parts ordered for your 1:1 rig?

It works, but illegal to do during a run on a course in a comp. ride heights can be changed between courses, not during the run of a course. so if you run in a comp, that feature would have to go or be mechanically locked to ensure no ride height changes during the running of a course. |

More Sidekick pictures here: link 1:1 hydro parts been ordered for the Sidekick... Comp rules are fine but I have yet to get to any - been running on my 'test' pile.... Couple shots with old Bulu2 that was my first TLT crawler. Last edited by NitroRC Ed; 09-11-2006 at 03:57 PM. |

Read the rules, even with RCC rules, ride height, track width, tires, and wheelbase has to be the same from start to finish on a course. Changes to such things can be made between courses only within the limits of crawler spec regulations. and it is not a new innovation, I have seen it 2 years ago, even with both ends set up for a ride height change. There even has been an adjustable wheelbase rig made years ago. I didn't mean to bring down the idea, just stating a fact when it comes to competing with such a rig. | |

That's cool man. I would've never thought of that but I bet it would help alot on a higher cog truck.

i understand the trackwidth and wheelbase rules, due to the fact that it isnt very "do-able" in real life versus scale. however if something is as common in real life crawling as a winch on the front axle hooked to the chassis why cant we run it in the scale comps.... i dont care what or when you saw it, its a stupid rule, especially since its as common as it is on 1:1 rigs. next you will out law front digs and cutting brakes. |

Wow - didn't know this was going to turn into a comp rule's bashing thread... Was just posting something I thought might have been a little different even if it was not allowed in a comp. And since most of my crawling is at home I don't have to worry right now about those rules - I just have fun with what I have. Thanks for looking anyways, Ed |

i actually know the rules pretty well.... i just didnt consider a winch on an axle a ride height mod.... also i believe it says a truck must start and finish at the same ride hieght. |

I was thinking about this today, would it be illegal for me to use a 1/4 scale servo with the 3inch long double horn to mount the tops of my rear shocks to, so that I can force articulate the rear end. If one shock was raised than the other has to go down so that wouldn't change the ride height. This would be on my 2.2. What do you think??? I don't see how it would be illegal, no wheelbase or ride height change.

Why are we making this a rules topic thread? His post never said "Front End Suck Down On The Fly Comp Rig" So take those rules and shove them up your arse Leflour. |

Found the first low profile servo I could find at the hobby shop. Not sure if I like it - it is a retract servo. Has over 120oz so is plenty to pull the arm. Quote:
