Nice rig
I like the idea of a chevy silverado body but i say go a FORD F100 or F350 body It would look 10 times better

I love it. As has already been said, trial and error evidently pays off.

Cheers and good luck 8-)

Update; (Sorry no pictures)

I've foamed out my tires (I cut down the foam down to half then made little cut outs for traction) and glued the tires to the rims.
I got myself some faststeel and locked my axles(Man the first one was a bitch... I did it wrong and had to take apart the faststeel)

Tonight, I wanna crack open the tranny and see what I can do about locking it.. I'm told I can use two small pieces of sandpaper cut in the shape of a circle, where the two slip discs meet.. Not sure what part that is just yet but I'm pretty handy I can figure it out once I'm looking at it.

Oh and I ordered my 55 turn yesterday(Axion) and got some custom batteries. :-)

Axiom motor eh? Tell us how that works out, I'm thinking of getting some for my clod. As for the tranny, I pegged mine, but I've heard that filling the gears with JB weld works pretty well.

Cheers 8-)

Pegged? I'm completely new to the pede tranny so I don't know all the terminology...
A new friend of mine told me that I shouldn't completely lock the pede tranny though, because i'll end up stripping gears when the truck can't move, so he suggusted sandpaper.

You need to lock the center planetary diff inside the tranny with JB weld or the like.
You can leave the slipper as is just tighten it down all the way.

Another update with no pics..

I locked my pede tranny, used hot glue and it meshed together real nice. As my rig stands right now I'm trying to position the tranny lower so the angle isn't so extreme for the driveshaft, needless to say it's in pieces right now.. Oh and I'm going to be adding loctite to all my links (I didn't have any when I put it together).. Hopfully I get my 55t motor either today or tomorrow. I'm hoping to be done with the tranny before it comes though. I wanna work on the tranny during my lunch break today.

Sounds like you're getting the hang of it.

I moved this to TLT crawlers, since it is a build thread.

Bender has a build thread on using Traxxas Tmaxx drive shafts. They are bigger and long. You might not have to piece them together.

Not quite sure what your trying to say. Looks like you already have 2.2's

No need for skid plates on the axle. Just shave the bottoms till they're smoothe & rounded.

Good looking build paul. You did a bang up job on this chassis, looks like it should work well for you.

Hrm, I guess my terminology is off then.. I was thinking of cutting the rims down so they're not as wide, making the tire more rounded..

Thanks for the compliment Griz. :-)

Another update, I got the tranny mounted where I wanted (Low and center, it worked out well because the motor is now dead center of the chassis). Today I'm shaving up the plastic I used to mount the tranny and going to throw a skid plate over it.. when I say skid plate it's just some cheap .025" alum that I got, to make the surface smooth, i'm basically going to wrap it around the spots that will hit rocks (Axles and undercariage). so it won't take away from clearance.. As a side note I finally got my piece of Delrin, but since my tranny is mounted already, i'm not sure what to do with it. hehe.. I'm still waiting on my motor and my batteries(hopfully my brother-in-law will help me with making the batteries.).. Sorry guys, pictures coming!! Hopfully tonight.

PICTURE UPDATE!!!!

Pics first then txt!

Alright SO! My FINAL measurements come out to 11" wide, 12 1/2" long (funny huh I started at over 13) and a little under 3 1/2 undercariage clearance.

I mounted the tranny in a lower position so I have less of an extreme angle on the driveshafft.
Of course I locked all the axles and the tranny.
Loctited most of my links
Mod'ed my temp body a bit.

Oh I turned the sucker on and crawled over my nephews toy thats about 7 inches tall, so that was fun.

Things left to do:
Lock rear steering, any sugguestions on how to do this? Maybe i'll be lazy and buy something, but what to buy??
Install my 55t Axiom(haven't got it yet)
Setup custom battery packs(haven't got it yet) I think I'm going to plant two packs, one on top of each servo.
Possibly.... set up a front pull down with my extra servo.. Gonna talk to John about that one, see how his is again.
