Default NEWB TLT Tuber build

Hi all. Just a newb here that has started to build my first crawler. I figured I would start out ambitious and go straight to building a tuber. I have spent a lot of time on the forum gleening info and studying pictures. Here is what I have come up with so far. I have a long ways to go yet. Opinions and suggestions would be appreciated. I will keep this thread updated with progress pics if anyone is interested. Thanks.

Ya looks like it should be good if you stick with it (my first one is still in pieces that don't really fit together in a box) LOL. But it is nice to see another canadian crawler and your only about 2.5 hours from me (i'm in calgary<<<) Hope we can crawl some time when you get it done.

I get to Calgary once and a while for work so I'll have to pack the TLT with me next time and you can show me how to crawl.

For parts I plan to use the following:

TLT axles (obviously)
DIY chassis and links
Losi XX tranny converted with Traxxas sliders
Maobs on HPI wheels
27 turn/brushless
MTronik Eco20/Mamba 25
2100mAh LiPo
M11 radio with Spektrum
Hitec 5645 servo(s)
HPI Baja Bug body

I think I have covered most bases. I will likely do a little more brazing tonight. If I get further I will post a few more pics tomorrow.

I am using flux coated brazing rod (bronze based). Likely a little tougher to work with but it is cheap and makes a strong joint. I use MAPP and oxygen to do the welding.

I realized after that I incorrectly said I was going to use a bug body. My plans are actually to leave the body off and just put a couple side panels and a hood on it. The bug body will be used on another project. I hope to get a little more done on the tuber tonight. If I do I'll throw a few more pics up tomorrow.

Well I worked a little more on my creation and here is where I am at now. You can see some design queues from several different tubers on the forum.

Well, I have managed to get more done on my crawler. Talk about a learning experience. I got the suspension somewhat sorted and mounted up and have mocked up the tranny as well. On the to do list:

1: Get softer springs for the shocks.
2: Make new upper mount plates that are flat instead of bent 90 degrees so I can get the links more parallel and lower the ride height a bit.
3: Mod the tranny by dumping the Hydradrive, locking it in a non destructive way (still have the Losi XX and may want to revive it some day) and connecting up the Traxxas sliders.
4: Narrow the rims (should I???) and mount the tires.
5: Clean up the frame, paint, and add a few panels.
6: Mount the electronics and go play!

A couple questions. First, am I the only one that thinks the cab part of the frame is small and looks out of proportion? I guess I could cut it off and redo it but probably won't bother for a while. Also, do you think I really need to narrow the wheels? Any other thoughts/suggestions?

Now for the pics.
