great Job so far Ryde.. After seeing Sam's axles as well, I was planning on doing the same thing is the 1/2" x 1/2 solid what you used for the spacers on the diff and such? why use 1/4" and 5/16" brakeline for the tube. Couldn't you just use 1/4" or was it to strengthen/thicken the tubing wall? |

| thanks alot for the comps! yeah, after is saw sam's axles awhile back (while i is was helping DTP with his "agent fat cat" maxx 2.2), i had to try and make a set too. i need something that can fend off the "fat cat" .

the 1/4" brakeline is the axle tube that the 3/16" solid rod is spinning in, no bearings in the axles. only grease in the tube to lube it up. it spins pretty good and free, i didn't even put grease on the diff and it spins freely. the 5/16" tubing is for as you thought......to strengthen and thicken the tube alittle. the tubing slides right over the 1/4" and i brazed it up. when i get time tomorrow i'll try and snap some disassembled shots of the axle. good luck on your axle, you'll find out it is pretty easy to do. just need the time and the "balls" to cut up a set of cases . thanks again to Slinkysam..........he is the man that thought of this awesome axle | |

ahh cool, sounds easy enough... but I did one smart thing so far- I asked my local club members if they had any broken TLT housings that maybe had the broken axle C's and such. So If I screw them up, they already were to begin with the hard part i am having, is thinking up the front axle, but I have a few ideas. as for the bearings in the diff, Hmmm.. I asked Sam and he mentioned he used them to support the ring gear better.. I'll await pics though, Thanks again |

Looks great, i love all this custom stuff, kinda why I love crawling... With that amount of clearence, theyll perform really well. Cant wait to see what you do for the front axle.

hey i built one of these too. mostly similar but a few minor differences. i believe i showed sam. it worked good but riding on my really narrow chassis, i had to do some crazy driveshaft routing. we should all get together online and have a 3 some...chat. because i've been toying with the front end too and have some way different ideas that i think ya'll may be interested in ;)

Don't do what you told me you're gonna do. I could be wrong, but I'm usually not. |
