Can't wait to see what a 4:1 reduction and a 7t puller can do with these big tires.

(I may get some video of it with the stock 2:1 reduction... probably would make some good speed runs... LOL)

Well, it has been back shelved for long enough...

Today I got started on the front shock towers that were bent and braised from a single piece of flat stock steel. I also got the front inner fenders on it and the transmission put back together with the 7t puller bolted on.

I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve on this one. Can't wait to unveil them as they become reality.

Thanks... Still got a long way to go. Had to work on the berg tonight, so maybe tomorrow I will get the front frame extension and rear shock towers done.

Got the rear shock mounts done. Next up is to narrow the chassis about 1/8" to help clear the stocks better. I also need to strip the chrome off of the beadlocks, dye them black, and mount up the new tires. Not to mention all the finishing details like bumpers, rocker guards, etc...

It will have some 40 Series Rok Locks under it...

I also updated the first thread on the new direction/parts list of the build along with a little background on what inspired the build...

Made me a front bumper template out of styrene when I got home from work today. It is patterned loosely off of a Currie "V" front bumper for a TJ. It will also act as my front cross member and will allow my front upper links to tuck inside it. The real piece will be made out of 1/2 delrin.

The Chrome wheels were killing me... I am going to dye them black. Not sure on what color I am going to do the rings yet...

Sprayed them all over with "Easy Off" oven cleaner... After letting it sit I scrubbed them gently with a tooth brush. Took a few tries to get all the chrome out of the cracks. I let them sit about 10 minutes each time. I did it twice to the front and once to the back.

They ended up coming out awesome. I will dye them tomorrow...

They look a little spotty in the picture, but it is just water and some residual residue I will clean off after they fully dry tomorrow...

Front bumper is cut out of 1/2" Delrin stock, still need to make a rear bumper. The links and bumpers are all going to be dyed gray. Also got the Rok Locks mounted up (they are HUGE ). So big I am going to have to stretch the wheelbase a little more to get it to look right I think. I may even have to dove tail the rear a hair. I also ended up using a scx-10 center skid plate.

Stretched the wheelbase a little and raised the body some... It looks a little better, but I am going to have to narrow the rear of the body or widen the width at the axles... RC4wd makes portals that would do the trick, but they said they didn't think they would handle such a large tire very well... What do ya'll think?

Got some more done today. The rear bumper and cross member are in. Also got the portals on it. Hopefully I will get some links made up this week and finish the front body mounts. If the body looks a little crooked in the pictures, it is because there are no mounts on the front yet. LOL

Here are the Integy Portals:

They actually surprised me a little. I was expecting worse. The gears are 4.5mm wide. Had to do a little shimming to get the lateral slop out of the lower stub, but I was able to get it as good as the stock knuckles were. After shimming each one I packed them with grease and mounted them up.

The extra width the portals gave along with the extra ground clearance will made it look a lot better to me. It also helped a lot with the tires rubbing the body.

This thing is huge!

A few body off pics to see the progress...
