| are Jugg 2 axles ok for crawling?
I'm building my first Rock Crawler but I'm on a very tight Budget. Tamiyas website is selling Jugg2 axle upgrade kits for 19.25, http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=93020 or are this kit not what I think it is. It looks as though these are the complete axles. are these worthy of crawling or should I just save my money for clod axles? Thanks in advance |

lol....nope, its not a complete axle kit, it just brings the jugg axle up to txt specs. add about 80 to that and thats about what you'll pay for some txt axles, you may be able to find jugg axles cheaper. dam, actually it does look like a complete axle kit, im gonna look more into it. i'd get one, some thundertech cvds, alu knuckles and you'll have some pretty stout axles. If that is the price for everything pictured, then that is a pretty good deal. All you would need are the shafts and knuckles.

That still looks like a good deal though - even for just the housings. Towers gets $16.59 just for one axle housing. | |

I just looked at this again - it looks to me like the top cover dosent have the upper link mounts molded in like the TXT top cover does. The Juggs were leafs so maybe this is correct? Maybe they are there, and I just dont see them? I thought that Jugg2 and TXT axles were the same - So i dont know? |

huh, good eye, your right. when i got my cases it came with the jug style and txt style top covers, neither of these look like the have the upper link mounts. the one that has the steering thing maybe a clod style upper link mount could be used.

jugg2 and txt axles are the same the only differents is that the top cover has the bosses on it for the upper link for a txt, i see it looks like they dont come with this kit but thats know big deal i always broke the bosses off anyway runnin my truck so i started making my own top link brace.

Do you have any pics of how you made your top link brace? Does it still attach to the top cover? |

i took two 1/4 inch pieces of sqare stock and mounted them to the 4 holes on top of the axle housing and then bent two pieces of 3/16 round stock over the top of the top cover and welded them two the square stock and then welded a flat piece on top of th round stock and drilled the two holes for the links and then did the same to the other rear. it takes a little while to make them but you never have to worry about it breaking. i'll try and find a pic for ya |

That's a great price just for the housings & you get the extra parts as a bonus. Here's how I mounted my upper links to my Jugg2 housings. Personally I like it better than the rather fragile TXT link mounts. |

That is exactly what I'm planning on building my tlt into. I've done the math and you can stay under 100bucks complete starting with these parts from tamiya's page. oIIIIIo, how did you get the 12mm hex rims to work with the 11mm brass hexes that those axles use? adapters? I have the 2.2 krawler tires also and I'm waiting for the And I'm planning on running clod style upper link mounts with my axles. I bought the same thing that you guys did. I figured that all that is needed is aluminum knuckles, stubs and axle shafts and it should be a complete set of axles as the kit on tamiya's page shows it coming with all the internals "maybe not the actual diff though, but I know rc4wd makes a locker " |

the jugg, clod and TXT all use that brass 11mm hex. I wanted to know what he used to get the 11mm -->12mm so he could use 2.2 rims.
