I'll have to keep that in mind. The Moab L's then are at about 85% Maybe I'll switch to the XL's next. While I have the wholw tranny taken apart anyway, I pulled the motors off the gd600'd and flipped the GD600's 180* on the motor plate. Assembly will be a PITA because to mount the plate I have to drive a screw in through the motor hole in the GD, which means I will be trying to mount the motor to the GD after it is already bolted to the tranny. And with all the other blind screws In the TXT trans, I have to have the whole thing put together. It will basicaly drop the motors almost below the tops of the chassis rails tho, The highest points on the chassis will be the top of the trans, and the top of the esc. everything else will be below the top of the chassis. which as of now it only 1/2 and inch above the tops of the tires. Before I stripped the trans gears, I did notice a slight issue, when the truck went into a bind, it would get the bottom of the shock body above the upper link, and almost snap into place making it harder for the chassis to come to rest. I think I'm going to put the limit staps in, maybe extra retracting springs to try and keep the axles flatter and limit the articulation. right now it stands up on that quart can which is 7-5/8" tall. If I could get that down to 5.5 or 6" before lifting another tire, I think it would do better. |

well, I got the gears in the mail today, got the tranny put back together, and ran it a little. Here is a pic with the new motor placement. They got moved down about an inch. I also took a short vid with the cell phone You can tell that limit straps might help with some of the torque twist. You can also see how close to vertical it gets before going over. This also illustrates the advantage of running the Novak in reverse to go forward. instant reverse. the downside is no brakes, but with the amount of gear reduction and motor drag, brakes are not a real big consern. |

Specs: as of 7/21/07 ESC: Novak Super Duty Motors: Integy 55t x2 GRU: GD-600 x2 Radio: 3ch T3PK Servos: HiTec 775mg x2 Chassis: TXT-1 Transmission: TXT-1 Axles: TXT-1 Locked Shocks: TXT-1, no springs, center mounted tension spring from Home Depot Tires: Moab 40 series on Proline Rims single narrowed with rock ring. Batteries: Electrifly 3600 7 cell x2 Body: trimmed TXT-1 Now the hitec servos are only rated at 199 oz.in. @ 6v, So coming soon will be Flyermate 948 servos. a HUGE 415 oz.in. @ 6v, and only about $20 each. The down side is they are larger framed than the 1/4 scale hitec's, so I will have to make new servo mounts. I'd have to anyway, because of the amount of flex they see with only 200 oz.in. on tap. |

well, I finally got body posts mounted on the chassis. And seeing as how the stock body was trimmed down to about the nubbins, I got a new lid. It is a megacab dodge, which is just barely long enough to get the edges of the bumpers over the servos. Poser shot Side shot Side hilling shot As hooptie as I have had dodges to be, I am using it for a handfull of reasons. It came prepainted with the truck it is actually long enough to cover the servos I was bored and wanted to see what it looked like. I still think I may be putting adhesive velcro on the battery trays on either side, and mounting bodies that way. I like a clean looking body better than seeing the big plastic poles sticking out of the hoods and beds. |

Glad to hear the tranny gears made it to you safe and sound. Also good to see your truck back up and running. |

fortunately I have a couple of spares just in case I picked up a pair of TowerPro 9805 servos for the front and rear, These things are massive! they are also about the cheapest way to get into 410 oz.in. without breaking the bank. I am going to have to make new servo mounts because the old ones could barely hang onto the 199 oz.in. from the Hitec 775's |

Yeah, front and rear, it was an attampt to limit flex seeing as how I can get one wheel about 9" off the ground before another lifts. I'd like it to be closer to 6". However with the weighted wheels, the sway bars are way over matched. You can barely see the thin clear skid plate I ran from one end to the other to prevent the bars from being hang-up points. I think I'm going to ditch them in favor of limiting straps. |
