Default What it's got.

I'm getting ready to by batteries for my cc-01 project and I was thinking I'd ask what the guys here are running. Motor? ESC? Battery?

I was going to run the stock stuff to start. Since it does not come with batteries I was going to get some 3000-4000mha 2s 25C lipos and use an external lipo cut off since the stock unit doesn't have one. I'm guessing I should be able to manage 30-45min of run time on this set up while trail driving.

a 55 turn brushed motor hooked to a 2.5:1 Gear reduction unit, 16T pinion (I think), Tekin FXr ESC, old school 7.2V nicad/nimh packs, CC-BEC, and an old school Futaba 4NBL radio controlling it.

Run it stock first.
It's good until its not good. ie, change it when it needs changing. dont just change a bunch of stuff because you heard it needs it.

I run a 55t, 4:1 reduction, 16t pinion, stock esc, 7.2v nicad 2000mAh and an old cheap trasmitter/rx. works great.

That is an awesome video!

I don't plan to change up stuff before I run the stock stuff. Mostly just curious what people are running. I wish there was a sticky at the top of specific vehicle section just for people to give a brief spec of their rig. Kind of like the picture only thread. Or maybe it should be an addition to the picture thread sticky.

Example:
This is my (vehicle) and it has,
motor:
ESC:
servo:
Runs this battery:
TX and RX:
::::pictures here:::::
(link to build thread)

Just an idea. I seem to have trouble finding those items unless someone has specifically asked in a build thread.

I am running the stock Silver can motor with a XL-5 Waterproof Traxxas ESC, servo is also the Traxxas water proof version. I picked these up really cheap. My only complaint is the XL-5 ESC does not have drag brake capabilities.

I also installed the Junfac 4 link kit with skid plate, GPM steering kit, and chopped the front Block off and custom made an aluminum skid plate for the front.

I did not lock the front diff but filled it with 55K WT diff lube. It actually works pretty well for me. I may go even a little heavier wt next time I rebuild it.

For batteries I am running 2s lipos 5000mah.

Thanks! I try to post quality pictures of my RC's. Nothing worse than a blurry picture.

Cool set up blg041407. I like the pieces that extend your tub wheel wells. Does it help keep out debris? What is it made from?

Works good keeping the trash out. I made them out of bicycle inner tube. This is how I did this.

Inner fenders/Dual Batt.

Is anyone running the stock motor and open diffs? Or thick greesed diffs instead of fully locked? I'm wonder how well the stock motor will do just for simple trail running.

I think the silver can is too fast. I'm running a 20 tooth with a 55 turn venom and it's great IMO for trailing. It's been sitting on the shelf for a few years but I took it to the car wash and she's looking like she's ready to rock and roll once again.

I am running the stock can but it is way too fast like stated above. I am going to replace mine with something in the 50T range. For the diffs I locked the rear but went with 55K weight in the front diff. I plan on going higher when I get back from Kuwait. It works rather well and the turning radius is not hampered with the front diff at full lock. I like it this way because it has enough traction to get over most obstacles.

Does anyone have an opinion on the 55t vemon crawler motor or the Novak 55t Tera crawler motor? Both appear to be straight drop ins to the cc-01 for some cheap low speed.

I have neither but the Novak is better from what I have been finding. Venom motors that I have had in the past did not last as long as I think they should have.

I have the venom 55 turn and I've had zero problems with it. It's not ran since 2009 but I'll be running it again once I get my battery tray for the radio.

They are about the same price. The Novak is a sealed can with a Novak sticker on it. I had a venom 370 fireball and it was awesome but didn't last very long. Thanks for your inputs.
