Default Recentering Problem

About three weeks ago I installed a gpm steering kit on my pajero. I was out a few days ago and I noticed the truck was starting not to recenter it's self correctly. When I turn all the way left and release the steering will return to a position that makes it veer to the right, and it will not return to 0 correctly unless I crank it all the way to the right first. I silver sharpied my servo, and it's returning correctly, so the issue must be in the linkage some where. Has anyone else had this problem using the gpm steering kit? Any hints to what may be the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like some slop has worked it's way into the links from the GPM parts put to the wheels, or possibly in the top or bottom plate on the GPM kit itself.

Replace the hardware that came with it with good hex head hardware and blu loctite, crank down really tight and you should be good.

It could be the steering post (the tube that sticks up in the chassis). It's made of plastic and tends to bend causing the front wheels not returning to center. Take the body off and see if this is the cause. There is a mod somewhere here by a user who cut a sheet of aluminum and placed it around the post to act as a brace to limit the movement. I'll try to find the picture for you.

Finally got around to taking it apart, turns out where the post connects to bottom arm, the flat spots that acted as stays rounded out. I ended up using the stock post and arm and made a solid link that's still behind the axles, turns left nice and sharp but not as sharp right, I'll get it worked out soon, and post pics. Thanks for all the hints.

When I install my kit, I'll post up results.
