Default CC01 gearing and reduction chart

Quick reference chart for gearing. Only worked it out to axle RPM. Basically I was stuck - I liked the overall speed range with a 65t motor, but was lacking for torque. So I wanted to find combos of higher turn motors and reduction units that would keep overall wheelspeed the same and give me more torque. With so many options, I wasn't quite sure where to begin, and buying GRU's is not cheap.

Using RC4WD's specs on their motors as a standard (assuming 7.2v) I worked out approximate ranges using various motor winds and reductions. A 35t motor and 4:1 are both here on the bench, so they are going in! Should keep my overall speed the same, but give me more torque. We'll see how it goes.

Hopefully this helps anyone looking to gear down. As always, this is just a guide - actual RPM's can vary, especially among manufacturers.

Thanks for posting this. I have the hpi gru and am thinking about changing it out for a 4:1 to regain some wheel speed. This will be a huge help.

Ditto, use one in my other truck. It's great for scale running, but I cannot take that truck out on a trail run. Just cannot keep up.

Totally agree on the HPI GRU. It has the torque but a snail moves faster than my rig with the stock silver can motor....

Thanks for posting this up!

Thanks for the chart, very helpful.

My CCs have either the HPI or Electrifly GRUs and have enough wheelspeed through a 3S Lipo

I have just created my own speed calculation.

With Tamiya's stock 540 motor and 14.67 gearing ratio. The maximum speed worked out to be 10.4 MPH?

I'm certain that mine was fast with 55T motor, I must be missing something. Stock tyre diameter is 90mm.

Never mind, the calculation is right, having just played my CC-01 yesterday.

With my 55T crawler motor @ 8,000 rpm, it is 5.7 mph which is about right.
