Cut off the front bumper and fenders. Stock wheel width is narrower than the look I'm going for and would have to chop a ton off the chassis. |

Setup now has about 3.5" of flex. Only minor rubbing to resolve. Pretty happy with that. Rear: Front: |

C-hubs are GPM, wheel hubs are Hot Racing. I updated the first post with parts list so far. In the process of cutting off the front brick and trimming a bit off the chassis fenders. More pics soon. |

How well does the gpm steering kit work? I found some others but they aren't beefy. And the opinions on here are useless cuz no one used the whole kit. Pretty much they don't work with the stock c's and hubs.

| Re: Grimacium's CC-01 FJ Cruiser I had to dremel away some material on the lower arm plate to make room for the bellcranks and rods on the GPM steering and I used a lot of loctite. The steering still had slop until switching out to traxxass turnbuckles and rod ends, and replacing the c-hub and knuckle allowed for better turning radius. So the steering kit alone isn't enough to make the steering great on it's own.

ok... that means you had the same problem as me with the gpm steering kit.. I went back to the stock setup minus the stock servo saver. I eventually stripped the gpm parts bc the screws kept backing out. I guess the only thing left to do is trim the lower arm to clear the turnbuckle. the steering radius that I've got right now is great but like I said the dogbones are a little weak. I locked the front diff and even with the stock street tires this thing has potential. im supposed to go hit up all the toy stores around here cuz I can't find a body that I like on line.. I'm not going to do any more mods until I get one though.. I got some tires and wheels on the way.. by the way they looked it seems that I might need something about 8in wide.. but the rims aren't going to be permanent bc I need beadlocks I guess I have to be patient

Bent some aluminum for a front skid and mocking it up with bumper & winch. Sorry for the bad quality pic. |
