Try different sizes and see what works for you... I have tried 12,14, 16, 18. And after all of my trial and error I found that the 14T works best for me.

Does the 13.5t give some good wheelspeed? I have a goat 3s and I'm running lnc axles and a lcc tranny in my scx10 based scaler.

watch the vid you can get a really good idea of the kinda wheel speed I get out of a 13.5 motor with a 14T pinion.

What kind of temps are you getting with the 13.5t and 14 tooth? I am currently running 21.5, have a 17.5, but a 13.5 sounds more like it. Which motor?

The temps stay low. Never too hot to touch it. But I ran 4 packs through it on that day and it got a little warm. It's a Ballistic 13.5 I run a 2S on it.

Another ? Redrokin/guys
Whats the Dimensions/capacity of the 2s ? Does it fit in the stock position ?
Runtimes with a 14T pinion ?
If i run a 1300 3s 25C pack, would i need to go to a 12T pinion with the 13.5T Brushless motor?

My 2S I can get around 20min of run time, as far as fitment of the battery... You can get all different size Lipo's. It just depends on what size you buy. Hobbypartz.com is the cheapest place I've found Lipo's.... EVER!

The 3S..... You can still run the 14T, the only difference between the 2S and 3S is more wheel speed.... Just depends on how much ya want I guess. If it were me I'd run it on the 14 and make adjustments as needed. It's all about setting up the Crawler to your personal preferences and driving style.

Seeme like you are running the risk of over heating your motor and doing some serious damage to it with a 31T pinion. Tops would be 18T... TOPS!

I've got the stock motor in my lnc/soon to be lcc, and I'm looking at motors, but can't figure out what to get and what pinion to run. I want some more wheel speed, but not a rock racer. I have a MMP to put in it already, as well. Am I understanding correctly that I should get a lower turned motor and a smaller pinion gear, as well, to keep the motor cool? But, how do I determine if it's going to be faster or not than the stock setup with a 35T and 20 tooth pinion?

If you know the motor rpms or Kv at a given voltage, you can do the math for your set-up with any motor, gear, tire or battery combo to find MPH. If you figure out your current set-up MPH, then change formulas for pinion, motor, battery etc you will see if changes make it "faster" or "slower".

voltage X kv / overall reduction ("FDR" Final Drive Ratio) X tire circumference X 60 / 12 / 5280 = MPH

If you dont have a manual, go to losi site and download. They have a chart for the FDR for the LCC / LNC with different pinion gears. With this formula, you can sit with a calculator and get a feel for what each change will get you.

Here is a good thread from our local club forum which illustrates what I just said. MPH is discussed in post #2

Just be aware that the Gear Ratio Chart in the LNC manual is in error. They quote a final drive ratio of 62.51 using a 20 tooth pinion. In reality, it is closer to 102 to one. I don't know if the chart in the LCC manual is in error or not. Jerry

I think it would be cool if one of the gurus made a chart for the lcc with lots of common motoring pinion combos for us newbies...lol.
