Default Alex's featherweight T1E Sniper

Back on the board after two months of holidays in my hometown in DRC

I've been running my BJ4.2 allmost everyday but I wanted to retire it for a chassis more suited to lightweight crowd then I saw the T1E Sniper and knew it will be my next chassis.

So far I've only ran a couple of pack with my sniper.

The chassis swap have been pretty easy, I've only outboarded the lower links at the axle because the sniper is wider, I was running my BJ pretty much 60/40 so I've only straighten slightly the rear lower links to have proper linkage links for my new chassis. I wasnt able use my ti rear upper so for now Im using ss m3 all thread with al sleeve but soon I'll go back to 3/16 ti.

During the couple of pack the chassis felt pretty good but I need to tweak the shock setup, they felt too stiff. I'm running a lower belly and sidehilling is awesome and breakover just as good as my previous setup if not better, I've removed 1.5oz of KW for the first test and the bias is still more forward even without KW the bias is pretty good the rig is sub 4lbs .

Well I just wanted to make a quick introduction, more spec will come later.

Alex

Thanks Pete, I agree with you, I allways liked the look of the T1E lineup but that one is even more badass. Spec will come later, first I'll play hard with it and try to find the right setup. Theres plenty of place where I can loose weight so I feel confident. I still have my SS steering link, non lathed motor can, non lathed big bore, SS hardware on the chassis and SS rear upper links. Without any KW, my bias is pretty good, not extremely forward but still forward enough and the truck weights 3lbs 15oz.

My Sniper have more than 10hrs of test and tune drivetime right now so I can give a little feedback.

I've been running without KW from the start to see how it performed before adding anything and so far I can't see why I should put them back in, my bias is nice, even if a little bit more forward wouldn't hurt but I'll work on that later.

At the beginning I had a wheel lift problem in sidehilling, but I've been able to tune the truck and cure this problem by playing with shocks and links.

From the start the truck have been working really good and it's getting better day by day, my Sniper put a big smile on my face every run.

Here are a few pictures on the rock, vid and more spec coming soon.

More to come

Very good! Very good indeed, with this look brutal!

I also have a Losi with many updates, and I'm preparing myself to do more and I think the last for a while. I currently have a chassis based on homemad BJ4 but was considering changing chassis, so went looking for a new chassis and saw news that will come out a new chassis in September that was made for the Losi MOA can also be used on the XR10. Now I saw your Losi and I was curious about this chassis, which total weight ready to run?

I have to ponder well the choice of chassis because I have many options, from BJ4, new chassis coming out in September, NBJ Pro carbon, carbon chassis-based chassis SA3.5 I can do, and now this option ...

I'll stay tuned to this topic. Congratulations!

Sorry my english.

Regards,
Gomes

Thanks no problem for your english it's not my first language either

I see that you are portuguese, I'm currently in Loule for a few days, it's near Faro where are you living?

Wich losi moa specific chassis are you talking about? For your chassis choice you may have to consider where your upper link are mounted on the axle (high or low) If I had to choose a chassis for losi axle it would be either the Sniper, UGC Viper II or the RCP Progress.

Right after building my Sniper I saw that this would be more suited to losi than my BJ because there's more upper link separation witch allow me to have a better triangulation and also upper link hole are going lower than my BJ

RTR without knuckle weight my truck is weightin 1790g with a 3s 850mah batt but that's for now, I still have plenty of place where I can remove some weigth.

TO DO LIST

- Felsenfest SCX10 shock
- Ditch those mock-up screw that are to long
- 3/16'' al chassis brace
- Glue on Dlux wheel
- CI dd closed cell foam
- 4mm carbon rear upper links
- Lathed can
- Moove the electronic in fronts
- New Ti front lower
- Ti BTA tie rod

But my English can be bad, and translator does not help anything

Good place to vacation without doubt! I'm from northern Portugal, Braga. Too bad we're not close, were marked a "training", and means real losi

Now I have the link here, is an Italian shop, the chassis is called "PORNO", comes out in September. The upper links, I use mounted on top, like almost everyone and I think that is the most functional. The Viper chassis do not like and I think it has a major drawback when hood is practically impossible to restore the normal position. The RCP Progress not think it's very functional because you have to use body can compete. That leaves the Sniper, BJ, homemad carbon-based SA 3.5 and the one coming out in September.

Ahhh, what comes out in September you can see in the RC Mad 4x4x4, I remembered.

I see ... Really the chassis looks very functional for the Losi, the links was you who you factories? Were made about the eye? Honestly liked seeing my bet and perhaps future.

Uhhou ... This is a weight fabulous!! You know how much each wheel weighs yours?

Is fabulous! Sorry so many questions! In Portugal my Losi is one who still walks, is all bully and XR10. I wanted to be different and invest in it, basically I am very satisfied, I will soon create topic with construction and modifications. I have to improve electronica, suspension, chassis and'll invent in wheels

Hug and happy holidays!

You are on the other end of PT,that sucks it's too far.

I've found a vid of the RC4x4x4 chassis, but I don't like it, it doesn't have the kind of feature that I'm looking for.

I have one friend who's running a rockshow with losi axle, he's really happy, this chassis seem to work really for him, he said that it's almost like the chassis for losi axle, he's running upper link on top tough, you may consider the T1E rockshow also or the black ops witch seems to be based from the rockshow but with more ground clearance. You can trim a body pretty bad and still be legal and shed a lot of weight.

Links are Lusnford Ti that I've bended.

Cheers

Really sucks, if you got closer i paid a beer where you live? Spanish? French?

I also saw the video, but I'll wait to see the pictures, always the best idea to have a chassis.

It is also an option. But I was curious about the Black Ops and Sniper, I must choose between the two! The Black Ops think it will not be so perfect for the Losi as Sniper, because of the position of the upper links. And it did not seem to have much free space for engines not to touch anything, the thing that has Sniper.

Sorry all this offtopic! Keep up the good work at the Losi, I will keep tuned!

Happy holidays! If you treat badly warns

I'm living in Belgium.

That's true, you need to get a little bit creative to allow for a better full compression with the way motors are on the losi, in front I'm running the chassis brace between the two shock instead of the front of the chassis and my front shocks can almost fully compress, for the rear the brace is between the shocks, just the way it's supposed to be but I have two small CF reinforcement pieces like SA in case I want to moove my shocks more backward, in this case I use the first hole for the chassis brace and then for the shocks I just use a screw and a locknut, I can make a picture if you want.

I'm gettin seriously sick of scrub, I can stall out my 7950 pretty easily, this servo was 2yrs old, and two months ago it started to show a lot of slop, in rock crawling steering servos are taking big loads and with big scrub radius they take even more load. Every other gear of servo are showing heavy wear. I have a dead 7950 I will borrow the gear once I get back home

THat is a knarly looking gear. Maybe a 7980 would fit the bill better?

What was you doing when that broke?

I could have seen in your profile where you were...

I knew more or less the idea, and is really a good way to have full compression of shocks avoiding the problem of the engine ... You could by then a picture of how I have to have this perfect idea of which you speak?

Wow .. I also have a 7950 with 1 year and so far I have not any problem, I use plastic flags up, so when the effort is very much broken the flag, and not spoil anything I prefer walk with some flags that are cheap to than spoil something more serious in servo ... I think I'll also buy the programmer's servo, so stay with functions that help and prevent this happening ... Bad luck ...

What keeps me away from the 7980 is that the servo will meet my tire much sooner.

I was just in a small bind then I noticed a weird sound then a few minute later I stripped the gear while grabbing a ledge.

Here's one vid of my Sniper, I'm very satisfied with this chassis, it requires a different driving style but at the end the result are better, I slowly feel my driving is improving.

wow! seriously, that thing is point and shoot. the lines you were pulling were just insane, thing is a weapon of course destruction.

from the vid it looked like the rig and driver were pretty dialed in, i can't wait to see it after a few more hours of practice.
