| Scale Tire Modifications Pic and Info Thread
I looked and didn't see a thread specifically for this so excuse me if there is one and please simply post a link in here if so. That said, I wanted a pic thread to see what others are doing with their SCALE tires to modify them for performance or just simply looks. I'll start. Old School RC4WD Rock Stompers These mods were done for looks but actually did help performance. The rubber compound was not very sticky or soft though and still had very limited performance. Stock Shaved Cut Finished Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 10-26-2012 at 11:33 AM. |

They kind of look like boggers or some Mud Terrains Quote:
I asked if a mod would merge them, but no big deal. It'd just be easier to see one thread than 2-3 | |

Scale tires are getting so big, that they're almost not scale anymore. Since some factory and aftermarket wheels are actually getting to 20" sizes, its hard not to use a 1.9s and 2.2s. Unfortunately, the tires come out to be in the 40 and 50+ sizes. I cut the centers out of some MT Baja Claws from 1.9 to 2.2. I mounted them on Mayhem Monster wheels. The beadlock held the tire perfectly. The fit the truck perfectly. I may try it with 1.5s. The cut & shut would work too, but then the sidewall looks funny. |

Wow I'm surprised no one posted pics of mods they've done on 2.2 R35 Ripsaws... I don't know if I should sipe them or cut alternating lugs off the edges....I can't go overboard otherwise the tires would easily be too soft so basically one or the other. HMMM!! Suggestions? Btw running CI closed cells w/med outers rear and w/soft outers front. Stock for now: |
