Default 2.2 TSL XL Foam Recommendations

I was about to order the CI Double Deuce 6" in standard inner, soft outer for front and standard inner, medium outer for the rear. Is 6" too much for this tire? What's the difference between the standard inner and comp cut inner? Any other recommendations based on experience? This will be mainly a crawler. I know there have to be threads on this, but search wasn't my friend tonight. Thanks!

Picture of the different inner foam choices/cuts

HOW TO PICK FOAMS FOR YOUR RIG - RC Fab Works

Outer foam firmness/selection will be dependent of chassis weight.
And on what terrain you intend to roll on.

Comp cut inner's would soften the tires center contact patch more
a soft outer may be too soft with comp cut inner.
But it depends on other factors of which we don't know.
terrain type, comp or trail, speed, weight, etc.

Maybe call CI directly...
and ask what they know !?
it's been typed that they're helpful.

I'm running the same standard inner soft front and medium rear outer combo on my bouncer. So far so good but if I had to do it again I'd go with soft outer on both ends.

Get the 6" CI DD comp cut inner foams, there's a thin piece of foam around the outside thats already been cut (1/8" thick), pull that off and foam is perfect for that tire. Also, depending on your weight, I would go with med front and firm rear. CI will tell you the same thing. Im running soft on my losi which is 4.6lbs and the softs are literally to soft for even that weight.

Hey WHITE-TRASH, what does yours weigh? I'd really like to get nice wrap around the rocks with these. No desire to bash. No real desire for speed. I dig technical rock crawling. Gotta find some good spots around here. Thanks!

I'd guess my bouncer is in the 7 lb range. The rear medium outer don't let the tires conform around the rocks like the front soft outer does. If I had a magic wand I'd run a foam slightly firmer than the front. If I hadn't already glued them to CI 6 bolt wheels I'd pull the rears and 0unch some holes in them.

6" DD soft outer on my set. Seems to work just fine. I run 5.5" DD soft front/medium rear on the non-XL and found the medium to be a bit on the stiff side. Depends on the weight of your rig, temperature, driving style and so on. Either way you won't go absolutely wrong. For all speed and bashing I'd choose tall Deuces Wild.

I use the stock memory foams out of an old set of chisels I had. They work great for me.

In xl's? That's a whole lot of air space around a tiny foam if so.

Yep. I bought the xl's and quickly found out the stick foams were way too stiff, and was put to shame on the trails when I couldn't make the same lines I had made the week before with some chisels. I planned on ordering new foams but figured I would try the foams from the chisels in the meantime. I liked the setup so much I never ordered new foams. The foams arent much smaller than the XL foams. Imho the XL foams are crazy big.
