Sand and hard pack/rock are two such different surfaces that you won't likely find a tire that excels on both surfaces.
You may be better off getting a set of paddles for playing in the sand and keeping your other tires for regular crawling/trailing.

Let some air out earahhh foam out of your tires lol give the tire a wider foot print a wider tire would help to paddles are the ultimate sand tire though

You can get by just fine with pretty much any tire in the sand if you can get your wheel speed up, I'd start there. You can also buy paddle tires for ~$20 per pair, running paddles in just the rear will still make a worthwhile improvement if you don't want them all the way around.

Sand is nasty...
Flotation is what you would normally be looking for, but shear power & speed can help too.
As far a an all around tire Sand/Rocks etc.
I would look at:

Duratrax Deep Woods CR
or
Duratrax Showdown CR (very fat wide tire)

Make the truck as light as possible & learn to creep to get up to speed & do not spin the wheels or you dig in fast.
As far as dune/hill climbing sand paddles or wheel speed may be your only hope

I run Showdowns on 50% of my trucks & they have yet to let me down.

Years passed, what 1.9 tires are now best for sand? I have hyrax predator and voodoo klrm and not really happy with them. What may be better for loose ground?

So for best flotation is tall narrow tyre better than normal size wide tyre?
Aired down tall narrow tyre is like a tank tread, aired down wide tyre contact patch is wider.
The size of the contach patch is the same, but which is better and why?

Theory for sand is...

Wide and tall to maximize tire contact patch. Light weight helps performance dramaticly also. In Rc, softest foam you can find emulates very low tire pressure. In the 1:1 world, worn out, barely any tread left, tends to do really well in the softest sand. See Matts Offroad for a master of 1:1 sand recovery

In 1:1 trucks most recommend tall and narrow tyres.
The contact patch shape, I asked if long is better than wide.

When aired down the contact patch is longer, not wider.
