Default 2018 Class 1 tire hotness

What's the hottest Class 1 tire of 2018?

I'm in need of a 1.9 tire, and theese are my top choiches so far: KLR A/T, Ironsides, Hyrax, Goodyear mtr.

What else should be on the list?

Personally the Pitbull rockbeast 1.5 is the perfect tire. The size, the look, and the alien rubber.

Boom Racing 1.55 SP Road Trackers look pretty dang awesome and perform great, I have them on my MST CFX with LC70 body, 3.46" tall.

PitBull Braven Ironside all the way...

BTW, if you go this way and need a spare, hit me up...we can split a pack. Oh, and watch for a PB 50% off sale - I got my set for $38 shipped.

They are outstanding tires and look the part. If you favor performance over scale then the Hyraxs are a good bet as well. IMO they just don't look right on a scaler though. [shrug]

The Ironsides are very impressive straight out of the bag. The 1.55 Growlers have been the gold standard of tiny tires for a long time and I felt the Ironsides outperformed them in every situation (same truck, just changing tires). The downside is they are noticeably smaller than other tires listed at 4.19 inches (some comp guys may care).

I'm still deciding if I like my KLR ATs. They are a solid tire that has some good all around performance and the AT pattern is much more scale than the other 4.19 options but no way do they live up to the Voodoo hype. As of now, I would say they are better than the 1.55 Growlers in Komp compound but I'm not convinced they are some kind of revolution in C1 tires.

The 1.55 Rock Beasts and 4.19 1.9 MT-Rs are also in the stack of tires that still need to be run. Very good things are expected out of both those tires.

I have some kind of tiny tire problem.

Right now I have the 1.55 PitBull Rockbeast on 1.9 wheels, working real well.
also have the following and they all work good:
1.9 / 4.19 PitBull Braven Ironsides
1.9 / 4.19 Proline Hyraxs
1.9 / 4.19 RC4WD Genius
running CI foams in all my set ups.
Have a set of 1.9 / 4.19 Voodoo MT-X on order.
PitBull has got a new small tire coming out this spring,
Braven Berzerker 1.55 /3.95 looks a little more aggressive than the Ironsides.

I cut apart these tires and make them taller but I like the tread spacing and width of the class 1 tires so I start with them.

The ottsix klr m/t X in red will be damned hard to beat. The tire has far exceeded my expectations.

I have a set of class 1 hyrax on the way too just for variety and I've been happy with the worked over set of 2.2's I have so I figure the smaller lugs should be better.

If your going small tire go with the small 1.5 wheel. JMO but the 1.5 rims looks so nice under your rig.

The Irok’s that came with my Marlin Crawler have been very impressive so far. And I really like the 1.7 wheel size. It needs to catch on more. 1.55 is too small for a scale 42” tire IMHO.

The cost to get 1.7s is the off put until someone starts making an affordable 1.7s it won't catch on. Especially when you can mount 1.7s to 1.9s and 1.9s can be affordable and accessible then the limited selection of 1.7s.

I have RC4WD 1.7" Raceline wheels with the RC4WD Goodyear MT/R tires in 1.7" with a 4.19" O.D. for my Ascender K10. I have been slow to perform my makeover of how it sits now on the stock wheels & tires, but I can't wait much longer - I really want to see how they do on my rocky limestone bluffs and powdery dirt MTB trails.

I'm confident they will look fantastic, as 1.9" wheels are most definitely out of scale for the K10 Vaterra cab. Frankly, I'd go for 1.55" but for the desire for reduce sidewall height a bit and also I wanted to try the new MT/R tires in a decent-performing size. To get an idea of how badly out of scale they are - imagine passing a real 1:1 19" wheel thru the open side window of the real truck, then think of doing the same with a 1.9" wheel through the side window of the Vaterra...

Anyway, I may even try to find a local crawler group if I get enough free time with whatever new job I end up with after my current job is over. I'm trying to find time for building and driving my crawler(s) now, but job seeking is interfering a bit.

Have anyone tested the Bravens against Hyrax 4.19 performance wise?

Have som 4.19 MTR's on the way. Hope they do well. Like the scale look, but might miss out some performance wise.

The Scale Builder's Guild did a review on YouTube of the MT/R and loved them...

I went with the 4.19 MTR’s as well just because I think they look more scale than the Hyrax’s everyone else around here runs. Looking forward to testing them.

I run the 1.9" 4.19" MT/R on my 12 lbs+ scaler and they perform awesome.

The RC4WD X2SSS compound of the MT/R is on par if not better than both the Boom Racing Hustler M/T in the super soft compound and to the Pittbull RB2 in the Alien compound.

I own the tires listed above, but I haven't compared the MT/R to the compound of the new Pro-Line Predator nor of the Voodoo tires.
