| oops, missed that in your previous post. Mine only goes down to 9 on the shade but it also rated for 5 amps TIG. I think that rating is for the sensitivity on the trigger sensors and not related to the shade though. Thanks for the info.

those little 110 tig machines are handy and cute and all, but just watch out...depending on where you live, if you are getting your electricity at a residential rate and start welding up every piece of metal in sight, you will be in for a rude awakening when the electric bill shows up! I know a guy out here in San Diego that got one and ran it on 110 instead of being less lazy and running a 220 out of his breaker box and he wound up with like a $700 electric bill that month! The little maxstar will run nicer with a 220 power supply anyway, and it won't wipe out the bearings on your electric meter!

Already in the process of upgrading and as a matter of fact added 24 space 100A breaker box and got 50A of 220 now gonna need it too >5hp compressor 15A >TIG/Stick prob only 10A >double wall oven 30A (still shoppin around ) I'll just have to watch my compressor cycles so im not welding when the ovens are on also at least the meter wont wear out.....its digital...no wheel just got parts to build foot control so really havent used it much yet just enough to hate finger control hope to find time to build that tomorrow........... |

I hate those damn finger controls with a passion...I only use a foot pedal for aluminum. I'm a pipe welder, so I'm used to setting my amperage and just using lift arc...If I'm using a machine in a shop and feel too lazy to bypass the pedal, I just set the amperage where I want it and stand on the pedal...just control the puddle by adding more wire when it gets too hot and long arc it a little when it gets too cold! I guess I'm just old school, but that's how I do it! Anybody with welding questions feel free to hit me up...it's what I do, and am happy to help out!
