| blueprints anyone have a set.
I was wondering is there a set of blueprints to help me build a tube rock crawl buggy. i built a buggy frame but i guessed at every thing and came out with a frame somewhere between a 1/8 -1/5 scale and i would like to build a 1/10 scale rock crawler but i want to build it from blue prints at least the main frame i can do the braces and supports myself. here are a few pix of my buggy frame this is my first build ever i soldered the next one will be brazed. not actual blueprints, but if you search "Formula Toy" you can get a lot of multiple views of the tube work and maybe print scale prints to use... just a thought.

unfortunately, most people that I know don't use a print.Just draw out something on poster board to get your ideas and use that as a template. You just need to figure out your dimensions first and go from there.

Your best be might be to buy a tuber chassis as a comparison then build yours based off of those demensions.

You could also use what you already have and scale it down from that. Just a thought.

I saw on Extreme 4x4 they had some software that did blue prints. If you find some one that has maybe they can print one off and you can just use copy machine to shrink or enlarge till it gits with in your scale.

ok i found them easier then i thought i would....the graph paper there printed on is 1" squares .... the second print is the older smaller drawing before i added a 1/2" to the size of the drivers conpartment and overall length, you'll see the differences when you look at the 2 drawings..............bob .... |

How did that buggy tuber hold up? Did it survive since you soldered instead of brazed?

i think for most of the axle options there are except the mrc axles, 1/8 is about the proper size unless its for comping. i would just rework the one you have, bring in the front and bring in the rear a bit. looks good i wouldnt give up on it since you have spent all the time making it. |

for what it is it's strong the tubes will bend a little before the solder will break that's on the back of the frame where the longest tubes are i am still going to add more braces there. in the front where the the six point brace is it will hold my weight i would guess i have not tried it just because if it dose not i don't want to trash the frame but i have put my hands on it and pushed down with about 100 lbs and there where no cracks or bends. i also have tried to twist the frame there is no flex. | |

Thanks bob do you have any pix of the finished frame and maybe a few of the completed crawler. I would like to see it. I like the design did you add any other braces to it and what scale and what size tubing did you use im guessing it a 10th scale but like i said i am very new to this so i just wanted to make sure Quote:

Not blueprints but might be of some use to you... Super - more like 1/8th. 2.2 inspired by many 1:1 rock crawlers. Have a look through the Metal Fume vendors thread... http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133675 Top work and plenty of inspiration! |
