| Cad program ??s
Just curious what CAD programs you guys are using? I have experience with some but it was along time ago so Im not sure what works. Im just looking to desing a few parts in CAD so it saves me time and money getting the parts made. Are there any "free" or cheap startup kits anymore? I downloaded the one I had off of a free site but that was 6 years ago, or can anyone make me a CAD program disc?

Here is one that's reasonable in price. It's called Turbocad, I think a seat goes for under $200.00 Check Turbocad.com There are others but cost lots more. Most of the free ones are not any good. This ons doesen't cost much but it's pretty powerful for the cost. You can design parts and make drawings. Here is the link $130.00 bucks http://www.turbocad.com/TurboCAD/Tur...5/Default.aspx http://www.turbocad.com/TurboCAD/Tur...5/Default.aspx Quote:

I have been using Autocad since its 2nd release when I was in High School......its all what your used to I guess but I can draw out something on autocad faster than I can find a pencil and paper.

im currently using rhinoceros 3d for mac. I have been using it for free for the last 6 months or so while they are beta testing. With an educational discount a windows license is less than $200. It allows you to do 3D modeling as well as 2D stuff. I am also using vectorworks, but that is a little out of the price range. Also would like to second turbocad, not bad for the price. |

I am a SolidWorks user. I have used a couple others and now that I am using SolidWorks I hope I dont have to use anything else! It is by far the easiest CAD program i have used and although it isnt quite as powerful as some others it is capable of anything i have ever needed to do...The tricky part is sometimes you have to tinker with settings to get it to do what you want but after using it for the last 3 years i have most everything figured out quickly. On the other hand a seat is well above what you are looking to pay. |

You might want to give a read through this thread.....there have been quite a few inexpensive/free packages that have been discussed: 3D modeling/rendering software I'm a Solidworks user myself, but if you are looking for cheap or free you should probably look at something else. |
