I really like liquid flux applied with an eye dropper. That way when you get your joints in place you don't have to touch them to apply the flux. It's simple, clean and best of all it saves you on time. Silv 45 is great with Oxy/MAPP and Silv 56 is great with just MAPP. Those will give you the best flow for the heat that your using. |

Here is a small thread I started about brazing; http://www.utrcrc.freeforums.org/k2-...zing-t369.html Here are some details on the flux that I use and would NEVER use anything other than this. AllState No. 110 Blue Flux It can be purchased for $7 - $10. |

Excellent write up for a noob like me. Just bought my torch yesterday, one more thing crossed off the list. Can't wait to get started, should get plenty of practice before my Honcho arrives....

for the non Americans, it can be little more confusing, since harris doesn't exist here nor safety silv. The local engineering store sorted me out though with some 40% silver rod and some flux paste. "Theres two types of people in the world, those that can braze and those that havn't tried yet." |

Bob, I believe the silver content is the difference, which affects the melting temp. The 56 melts at a sightly lower temp. I haven't tried it yet just 45 with MAPP, I look forward to trying it though.

from what i've read those Oxy/MAPP torch sets aren't worth the trouble....i'm just using the benz-o-matic trigger torch....i'm trying to find a brass cone that'll slide/fit over the torch tip to reduce the flame coming out of it to concentrate the flame into a smaller zone so i'm not heating up more of the tube then i need to...........bob .... |
