My machine has Rolled Ball Screws from Roton it holds about .003" tolerance. All three screws and nuts cost about $150 total but the screws had to be cut and machined which my 7x lathe wasn't up tot he task. That's plenty good enough tolerance for the crawler parts I make. I also have 4.9" of y travel instead of the stock 4.1. My conversion wasn't a Kit. I followed the plans on this site.

Here's my build thread on cnczone.

CNCFusion makes a kit for the X2 / SX2 most people really like the x and y setup but don't care for the Z as it covers the gib adjustment and is off to the side of the head. The Z setup on mine makes the machine tall but it keeps the ballscrew away from the swarf.

The LMS kit was Side Z which was... Eh in my book. That said nothing is near perfect ever

What driver board/power supply? I'm getting a G540 and a 48V power supply to replace my stock Sherline board that mysteriously went AWOL

I'm running a G540. I bought this kit. I got the extra motor for a 4th axis.

GeckodiverG540 4 axis kit (one G540 + Four NEMA 23 KL23H2100-35-4B ( ¼”Dual shaft with a flat) 381 oz-in + one KL-600-48 48V/ 12.5A 115V /230V power supply)

From here

They have a 10 amp 48v and a 7.3 amp 48v power supply as well the 7.3amp is only $50 if you're running smaller motors.
