Experimented making my Titanium links today!

I ordered 6 feet of 6AL4V grade 5 Titanium from McMaster Carr last week and it got here yesterday so I took a piece to work and played around with it during my lunch hour. It acts very similar to stainless when cutting and wasn't to bad honestly, but threading is only possible on the lathe, lol. I cut one end with 4 x .75mm threads and it turned out great but I really doubt a die nut is even going to scratch this stuff, its freaking hard! I'm going to try the die on it later tonight hopefully, and it also bends pretty good with my wire bender but it makes from force for sure.

Anyone tried threading this stuff with a die but before?

sure have ,done about 24 links all by hand and all with the same die. Bought the ti rod, die and bender all from mc master Carr. I use a lot of cutting oil .

Hmm, was it grade 5? Maybe the die I had was just really dull lol. I think I'm doing to wind up using the lathe anyway because Im thinking I'll go about .005 larger on the OD just to help the rod ends get good bite on the threads. we'll see!
