propane with oxygen is ok. propane by itself is not hot enough. map gas is ok by itself. oxygen with acetylene is hottest. my regulators are leaking so I use map gas

Mapp burns hotter than propane.

Propane will braze small tubing and thin flat stock,it just takes a bit longer to get to temp, 1/8th or smaller solid stock will also braze with propane.

Mapp is a better choice for the little difference in price, just make sure you torch head is compatable with mapp gas.

I find using bare brass/bronze rod and dipping it into the powdered flux works way better than the precoated flux rods you can buy.

1/16th fllier rod is my choice, it will reach melting temp quicker since the is less of it to heat up.

Its all about temp control to make nice joints........

Partially correct, depends on the thickness of the material. I have yet to find a material we use in the fab of the crawlers that I cant braze with propane.

Do you use the normal size tip likeon a plumbers torch, or do you have something smaller to get a finer flame point

With mapp or propane I use the bernzomatic 4000 plumbers torch head. I also use oxy/acet set ups with a small tip or a jewelers torch depending on what I am doing.

The 4000 will do it all,but I find the heat control to be more effiecient with the oxy/acet set up in certain situations, especially when using harris safety silv.
