| Adjustable link v-belts
I've been looking at new belts for my mill and hear good things about the link belts...either the Power Twists or the Accu-link. Anyone have any experience with them?

I have'nt had to remplace a belt on my machine yet, but,,,,,,,,, when I do it will be a link belt. Over 20 years in maintenance has made me swear by them. Light weight, forgiving under tourqe load and quiet. |

Got a 8' length of belt in my mailbox today. Easy peasy to install, and made a noticeable difference in noise and vibration. A quick pass with a fly cutter and 1/2" endmill on some scrap aluminum showed a much improved finish. Side milling still gives a wavy finish though, so I guess I can attribute that to runout. Can't do much about that... |

Are you Cline cutting or conventional? That can mad a big difference in your finish. Also the number of flutes your end mill has. But if your mill has a lot of play in it then there is not much you can do about the finish. Maybe try a few different depths of cut and see how it looks.
