I believe traxxas offers a jumper to run just a single battery for this same purpose, slow down the truck for beginners, but I cannot find the #. simply get a tamiya pigtail from your local hobby shop and solder the ends together to make a jumper. on a single cell pack, an E-maxx only goes about 12-15 miles an hour tops.

ok guys, first of all, thanks for all the help. after running the truck (yes, finally got one sorted) i definately think it's gonna need to be slowed down. I think the single battery mod is the way forward, so i can leave both batteries in, but run them in parallel for twice the run time for him. So, there seems to be some debate on motors now. Can i run on the stock motors at 7.2 volts without damaging them? I presume this will make the truck very slow. Once he gets the hang of it running that slowly, can i stick a cheap 7.2 volt motor on there to speed it up a little (or do i use two 7.2 volt motors?) Think my heads starting to spin now....... |
