| Summit esc stopped working
I've had my summit 3 months maybe ran 10 packs through it and the Esc stopped working and flashes red and green. It has the Evx 2. All the servos are working. I've tried unplugging the motor and re setting it and it still flashes green and red. I took it to the local hobbytown and they tried a few things and said the Esc is bad. They said traxxas would replace it. I called traxxas and it will end up being $50 plus shipping and turn around time is over a month. Has anyone else had this happen to them ?

I just received a replacement EVX-2 from Traxxas (for one I had that got FRIED) and it came with Low Voltage Detection installed. When I first tried to use it I was experiencing the same issue with the Red/Green blinking light. I came to find out from the EVX-2 instruction manual on the Traxxas website that when this signal occurs it means the following (taken directly from the EXV-2 instruction manual): • Flashing Red and Green: The EVX-2 has entered Over Voltage Protection. If a battery with too high voltage (over 14.8 volts) is used, the EVX-2 will go into a failsafe mode. I don't know how this could have been activated but if you are in fact seeing the red/green blinking light, and you are using NiMH batteries, then I think this will fix your problem. In order to disable it you must follow these instructions: To disable Low-Voltage Detection (NiMH setting): 1. Make sure the LED on the EVX-2 is on and shines green. 2. Press and hold the EZ-Set® button (the LED will turn off) (A). After ten seconds, the motor will beep three times and the LED will shine red. Release the button (B). 3. Low-Voltage Detection is now DISABLED. I will add that in order for this to work you are going to have to plug in only one battery while you are attempting to change the setting. The speed controller is going into an over voltage protection mode because it thinks it is receiving power from LiPo batteries while it is in fact receiving power from NiMH. One of the leads from the EVX-2 is the main lead and will allow you to power it up with only one battery installed. Try one lead and if it doesn't work then switch to the other. If you do this and follow the instructions above I think you will be back in business. I must also mention that I never heard any "beeping" from the motor as indicated in the instructions above. |
