Look at what you get for the price though. Cheaper then what everyone else would charge.

Are you two guys frickin' serious? No offense to this site or anybody on it, but this is a mere blip on the RC radar. Traxxas doesn't need this site. And if they perused this site they'd see it was full of Traxxas haters. Why would they throw themselves into a fire?
Do you think this niche of the hobby would have gotten as far as it has without rcc? Also just because a buisness doesn't have a vendor account here doesn't mean they haven't paid attention to the site.

So..... portal axles ...... ? Why ? And what's the difference besides torque twist....
Just looks odd with additional gears in your drive train...... I'm new......... These portals are new to me.....

Yes, I do.

I love it. Not a fan of the body. We have enough Land Rovers. The price is a little high, but I think I'm still getting one. It'll be a great competitor to the MST CFX-W. The Traxxas will also get instant 3rd party support. It'll be interesting to see if anybody makes bodies to fit this larger wheelbase.

People complaining about the price need to stop and think what would happen if this was an Axial. It would be all plastic, have horrible electronics (Traxxas electronics are much better), and still probably be priced right at $500.

Clearance Clarence.
Not to mention how much lower the gearing at the wheels is.
I ran portals on my R1 and loved them.

Holy $&@!, it has cruise control.

Actually, this thing looks pretty impressive for a RTR under $500. Wish Traxxas did kits.

you forgot the 2speed parts and locking diffs would be optional let alone the servos for them. i'll GLADLY pay a little more for a product that comes from a company who shows some effort to reward and support their consumers.

and doesnt traxxas have a lifetime warranty on their electrical components? send it in, get it fixed and sent back for the cost of shipping. they also got that powerup thing where you trade-in your old electronics and get new stuff for 50% off list price.

axials warranty, however, from the meager bit of info they supply on it is only good until 10 days after purchase? no lifetime warranty... and we all know they put garbage electronics in their rtr's and skip every possible corner knowing that most of us will just hit up the aftermarket.

I personally don't understand the Axial business model either. Build a scale, real looking rig that really doesn't take a lot of abuse. Servo horn, electronics, add beef tubes, hardened gears..........To have to upgrade parts out of the gate doesn't make sense to me. Traxxas will take a beating, thats what they're known for. Hopefully the production truck is like the prototype pics. Traxxas already has the sub section on their forum for this truck. All the BS will stop once its in your hands. Then objective reviews and comparisons can happen. Heck, compare a Yeti to the Rock Rey or the Baja Rey to the SCORE tt. IMHO, Axial innovates and others perfect.

Default New Traxxas Scaler - Land Rover Defender 110

I personally worry about the remote locking diffs, which in all honesty given that this is meant to be a scale crawler I really do not see much of a point in. I mean the summit made sense as when you wanted to unlock those diffs to go fast you did but for a scale crawler that will be prone to flipping over in high speed situations doesn't really make sense, let alone the summit's locking diffs had issue in the first place. The 2 speed makes more sense as if your stuck on something in low gear you flip over to high gear and hop over it if need be.

As far as Everyone saying traxxas vehicles will take a beating, that's a freaking joke, only one I ever owned that held up half way decent to the beatings I gave them was my Traxxas Slash Ultimate and even that I had to beef up the drive lines, and that was before I put in the E-Revo 6s brushless system, because god knows the Valenion system they had in them would just constantly overheat unless you went and bought a fan's for it all.

As far as Axial goes, they have their own issues as most everyone know's, cheap flimsy plastic, plus their shoddy RTR Electronics, let alone their issue with the factory that they shut down and not having any parts in stock while in transition (Worst timing ever). Compared to Traxxas who usually uses studier plastic's and better RTR Electronics, both will be something Axial will really have to step up their game on in order to stay at all competitive especially with Traxxas entering the game at the point they are.

Regardless of the differential, that I personally think may wind up causing people more grief than it is worth, I will be saving up some dough to get one most likely as it looks like an overall good setup. Though I do hope that new XL-5 Can be programmed on the fly with something like the Traxxas Link, cause having to deal with going through it via Beeps is just damnably annoying.

No wonder newbies tend to be afraid to post things around here. After all the <€|* on something I didn't realize at the moment. Excuse the }^|€ out of me. I'll just continue to read posts berating other people for not knowing something correctly and stop posting any useful information I might actually have.

You need to read the Traxxas reason for the diffs.... plausible.
I have never used the beeps to adjust any of mine, I use the Bluetooth app and it works pretty well.I don't care for the Traxxas TX feel as I'm using a Futaba 4PLS , but I will see

Wouldn't surprise me one bit that a vendor here is the first to offer a locker to replace the selectable diffs.
