Considering all of this I think the amount of people that care about comp legal parts for this truck is a miniscule sized group.

Are portals even legal under SORRCA?
Your estimations are probably largely correct, most people don't care about comps. Certainly the majority of folks that are buying this as you pointed out, don't care, as they're cwalring n00bs from the Traxxas ecosystem. That said, the majority of the people on this site probably do care a little bit about comps and comp rules. No?

Most clubs do have their own rules, sure (some even base them on SORRCA), but if any of them allowed 2.2/3.0 style short course wheels on a GOSHDARN SCALE TRUCK, that'd be super-weird.

Portals are legal, why wouldn't they be?

I'm not sure if the majority on this site care about comps. Seems like closer to a 50/50 split these days, but I could be far off as I don't spend time in the comp sections.

I agree with you - say no, to the SCT-style wheels.

I was just asking. I'm not all that familiar with SORRCA, but I know the Ascender battery tray is illegal. I'm surprised portals are legal since you rarely see portals in the real world.

[QUOTE=JatoTheRipper;5713090]Pretty nice videos. The tires definitely seem to hold the truck back in certain scenarios.

Your videos show the huge body gets hung up a lot as we expected. This isn't necessarily a drawback, but it's an additional challenge just like the big K5 Blazer body on my Ascender.

Your video also shows that even with portals you still have to pick good lines or you'll get hung up. I'm happy about that. I don't want a truck that's too easy to drive which would be the case if it crawled over everything.

Sorry again ... Don't know these forums well... But just a few videos I watched and I'm sharing with y'all sorry again

I got to see one of these at a 'Hobby Works' ( small local chain in MD.) This store wouldn't let you drive it, only pop off the shell and look /touch the vehicle. I like a lot of the thought that went into the design of this new rig. One thing I immediately noticed and liked were the shock mounts- they wrap around the chassis rail and are tied together over the top, plus the molded in panhard mount. Nice, solid mounting system.

If 50% are into it here, I wouldn't be surprised.

Portals are pretty popular on the Industrial scale, and folks have been swapping them for years off Volvo c303's to use on their Land Rovers among other things. The Merc G55 6x6 uses them, as well as the entire line of Unimogs since forever. Mopar even makes a conversion kit for the JK: Linky

Portals have been and still are used today in 1:1 comp buggy's and even seen them in 1:1 recreational rigs also.

I do not care about competitions or SORRCA rules and neither do any of the guys I see out on the trail. Just interested in scale trail crawling with our local hobby groups.

Can anyone comment on the Team Raffey D110 Truck body fitment on this? I am concerned about the width.

Too narrow. Or the TRX is too wide. Either one.

I haven't seen this posted yet, but the TRX-4 offers 4 different wheelbases. Obviously wheelbase selections are much more than that with different sized links, but until now I hadn't realized Traxxas built in different wheelbases.

With the drive shafts being more in line with the outputs & pinions, I wonder what the absolute minimum wheelbase can be.

Nice! Can't wait to get it. I have some upperhalfties and RB XL's to slap on. I'll have to start looking at a light weight body option. Maybe just pick up a clear Traxxas body when I can and leave off all the accessories.

Default New Traxxas Scaler - Land Rover Defender 110

Only a handful were released. A much larger release will be in a few weeks.

It is out. Lots of people have theres already online (not just dealers). I am still wondering where the Rigid Industries licensed light kit is?
