Default Unpaint the windows?

Is there any way to unpaint the windows without spoiling them? I mean, let the windows 100% clear and not fuzzy.

Thanks

I just painted my Grey body and when I was done I briefly attempted to see how hard it would be to remove the grey from the window areas from the underside of the body.

I didn't get too far, I tried sandpaper and I may have tried to scrape but its on there pretty good. I don't know of a chemical that is safe for the lexan does anyone?

Maybe I should try soap and water it works on some house paints I've used haha. But it said on directions to do that instead of paint thinner,,

I only tried because I painted my body externally so whatever I do to the underside is unseen except for the window area

If you try and remove the paint from a regular body and you go over the lines or whatever then you'd be over the body paint .

Underneath the traxxas black stickers is probably whatever color your body is. On my grey one I have a yellow body and grey windows now the same color the body used to be., it looks Ok actually almost clear in certain light lol. But on a red one I bet its red windows. The underside of my body is white which means they sprayed that white OVER the grey color?

If you find out how separate from this thread please come back and tell me : ) Maybe someone will know trick though

Acetone removes most Lexan paints but in my experience it also leaves the Lexan cloudy and brittle.

I've heard some people get good results by using a solution of 60/40 water/acetone but I've never tried that myself.

I've also heard that using Dot 3 (or was it 4?) brake will take paint off Lexan. I think that requires that the brake fluid being is sit on the paint for a period of time, but not too long. Again, I've never tried this so I can't say for sure.

Just do some Google-fu and search "remove Lexan paint". There's a metric shit-tonne of info out there.

I have heard of brake fluid being used to to remove paint from lexan bodies, however it was mentioned it would leave it cloudy. Best option and easiest option I could imagine would be to cut out the windows and glue in some clear replacements... or get a new body.

It would be next to impossible to remove the paint and get the look you want. Best bet would be to cut the windows out and replace with clear lexen. And even at that I don't think it would look 100% stock. Buying the clear body is the only way to go.

Back in the day, RCCA or Xtreme RC did an article about how RTRs are made at the factory including the bodies. It showed how the typical RTR body isn't actually painted, the flat lexan sheet is printed with the design and then molded. Most lexan paint removal tricks don't work on RTR bodies because they aren't painted in the traditional sense. Even if you find a magic combination that removes the paint and doesn't destroy the body, the lexan they are molded in might not even be clear.

Let me just save you guys the frustration and time, money, fumes, headache etc.

Don't even try to remove Traxxas body paint, it's some kind of Plutonium based etching paint. Brake fluid will partially remove the paint, but will cloud the Lexan and make it very brittle. Any other harsh chemicals or abrasives will only damage the lexan.

I'm going to cut the front 3 out and shoe goo or E6000 some clear lexan in, at least on the front windshield. I may only cut down the side door windows to simulate rolled down windows.

Yes, there are d90 2 doors down that low, I have seen them, there is also a d110 which is the 4 door like the TRX but it is well over $150.

I removed all the paint from my passenger window last night and found that the lexan is not even clear, it's milky and hazy. So I cut all 3 front windows out and just going to drop a piece of lexan in the windshield area.

I've used old nitro fuel to remove lexan paint before. Not sure what brand the paint was though. Took some elbow grease, but no haziness/brittleness to speak of....
