One of the nicest looking brass portal covers I've seen so far! Looks like nickel plated brass, availability date?

I agree these look really nice!!! The design is well thought out, but.......... I'll wait to hear how the bearing pockets fit, as I've had issues with tolerances on SSD products previously. Hopefully the consumer reviews come back positive, these might just get me.

Agreed on the tolerance needs to be better than in the past.

Those are nice. They work for front and back? I assume they fit inside your wheels?

Yes they fit front and back as the front cover is the same on both.

These fit inside SSD wheels and should fit other wheels that dont have a rear ring.

THe OD of the part that fits inside the wheel is 35mm (same as our SCX10 II knuckle brass weight SSD00140, I dont think anyone had issues fitting those inside wheels).

I'm very interested in these portal covers, but I have Pro-Line Faultline beadlock wheels, can anyone tell me if these will fit with my wheels?

They do have a rear ring and are a little bit bigger than 35mm but is it too close?

Should fit inside the wheel no problem but the supports that come off the hex area may need a little trimming if they touch.
Just some minor trimming to the supports, should be simple.

Ok I see, you are referring to the small bump on top just between the two screws right?

Is it possible to measure the diameter where that bump is? I wouldn't want to grind through the part while trimming...

Oh I think you are talking about trimming the wheel... I see what you mean now...

I thought you were talking about trimming the portal covers, so I was only looking at the covers

I still wonder about that bump though... I just looked on my TRX-4 and the beadlocks rings don't have much clearance with the top of the stock portal covers, like 1mm, it's a tight fit. If it does rub on top of the cover, is there any room on the covers to trim without breaking through in that area?

The bearing fitment on these are Perfect. The Bearings have to be perfectly aligned to press them in, and are a very snug fit, I think the top ones are going to be tough to get back out when needed.

I had one that was very tight to get in, but I was still able to.

Overall I am very happy with them , and they are on all 4 corners of the T-reXJ.

If the need arises to replace worn bearings that are in a blind hole, easy peasy.

All you need is a little bit of sliced white bread, just press it in the hole and compress it, add more compress it, add more compress it....the bearing will pop right out !

Iíve done this a few times with cars and trucks and machinery. Either use a bolt real close to the size of the hole or use a drill bit upside down, just use a brass hammer so you donít damage the tip of the drill bit.

I have used the bread trick to remove clutch pilot bearings in the past with great success. Generally the bread trick requires an air pocket behind the bushing/bearing in order to generate the pressure to move it. These portal covers don't have any space behind the bearings so I am not sure it would work. I found a dental type pick works best to just pick the bearing out.

I have always used grease to get out bearings like that, at least until a pick can get under it.

Is there any downfall to running these portal covers in the mud? Is the fit tight enough in the wheel to create an issue with rocks or mud between the tire and the wheel?

Rocks and dirt are always a possible problem no matter how much clearance you have. If the wheel clears the portal cover then go for it. You can't worry about some random stone getting in the way. It's called Murphy's Law.
