Default 66 Chevy!

Well I finally decided to drop a new lid on the TRX. I ended up grabbing the 66 Chevy C10 from the local hobby shop and got to work..

I didnt want to shorten my wheelbase at all on the truck so we came up with the idea of a spacer between the bed and cab which also gives it a bit more realistic look like a 1:1 truck.

Once its painted the spacer wont be too noticeable. I also plan to come up with a bed cover for it to hide the rear posts and area's I had to cut out of the bed for the shock towers. If all goes well Ill get some paint laid down tomorrow.

Did you have to cut it to separate the bed from the cab? Did you have to reinforce the area where the spacer went?
Looks awesome!

Stew, no thats how the body comes from Proline.. 2 seperate pieces. It comes with 4 screws to mount them together but with using the spacer plate we made Im now using 7 screws, washers and lock nuts to hold it together.

Zippy dont you hate when that happens! lol

Got some more work done today...

The hardest part was taping off the bed of the truck for the paint scheme I was going for. Im pretty damn pleased with how it turned out.
It will still need a small amount of trimming on the front wheel wells, and once the SSD bumpers show up I will be cleaning up the front and rear to make it work with those bumpers.

We also added and extra brace along the back of the bed on the inside to stiffen it all up.

The paint job and body mod turned out great!
Is the black pinstripe paint or a sticker?

Looks KILLER.
Question for you. My body showed up yesterday, and after trimming, and getting it "set down", going to have some pretty good tire rub on the wheel lips.
I see you have your body laid down on the sliders, are you just going to open up the wheel wells, or did you raise the sliders a little ? I see if I let the box set on top of the shock towers, and bring the cab up level, there isn't much for tire rub. But it sets up kinda high, not the best look...
I don't care to whack up the wheel wells, to too much. Just wondering what you were doing, before I make a mistake I'll have to live with.

The sliders are at stock height.. I had to trim a bunch out of the bed to make it sit that low.. I plan on making a bed cover for it to hide that in the future.. I am taking it out for its first run today since mounting the body and I did trim a bit more out of the front wells from when that photo was taken.. Ill snap another pic today before heading out on the trails as well as some in action and they will be posted up later..
