| Brass portal covers & clearance
I'm putting together my parts/wish list for my trx that I'm about to purchase. I was wondering if anyone has had clearance issues with their after market wheels? Just don't want to buy wheels that aren't going to clear the brass I want to put on it for weight down low. From your experience. should I get all the brass parts available for this rig? Thank you for any & all info. Have a great day!

No brass on my rig but no clearance issues at all with LockedUp RC steel portal covers & LockedUp RC steel C-hubs paired with Gmade SR04 and SSD RC Trail wheels.

SSD Portal covers and there are no fitment issues using SSD wheels and Gmade SR steelies. This are the best out there imo and they add 150 grams per axle.

I got these brass portal covers due to the weight of them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brass-Porta...wAAOSwikhZ0OlY They fit the stock wheels just fine, but not my Axial and Gmade wheels. The problem isn't the circumference of the weight clearing the inside of the wheel, but how deep the wheel hex sits in the weight. The screw heads and some of the weight prevented the wheel from going on all the way. So, I ended up taking a grinder to the face of the brass portal cover, after removing all the little screws and removing just enough material to clear the wheel. The weights started out at 100 grams a piece and ended up being 88.4 grams a piece after customizing them to fit my wheels. Not too bad. You can get most anything to work if you use your imagination a bit. |
