Default What glue to use for clear window install?

Hi folks.

I'm currently in the process of removing the windows to add clear lexan. What glue are folks using?

Thanks.

Matteo used ShoeGoo. Should work great since it will flex with the body and won't fog the clear windows.

ShooGoo and E6000 are very similar glues, but I prefer E6000 because it self-levels as it sets up leaving a nicer looking finished product.

Thanks folks. I could not get this stuff quick enough so went with Evo-Stik Serious Glue. Does a fine job and no misting.

Look up something called canopy glue. It's made for gluing the glass for the canopy in rc planes. It dries clear and shouldn't affect anything.

I didn't know this about E6000. I'll have to put away the Shoe Goo and try the E6000.

I think I'm either going to have do this with my windows or get rid of the Defender I just bought, because hatred is growing in my heart. Can't stand those blacked out windows. Part of the hefty $400+ price of the Defender model is in that finely painted and detailed body, so I don't want to toss it and get a clear replacement at the beginning of ownership. Plus, I like how that metallic red matches the overabundance of green, present in our NW forests.

It was easy to do. I was a little dubious about trashing the body. Just take your time and use good glue.

I also use this glue. From zap. It takes patience before its dry. But nice result.

Reading this thread and having headlight lens to install. Knowledge gained helped.

2 attempts were made, using 2 different glues, here is what I learned.

Ordered the canopy glue, the wife had the e6000. Figured I give it a shot. First off the e6000, was hard to apply. Very thick, could not really spread it. Went on with little globs.

Unable to run the edge of the lens, doubting this was going to turn out well. I put little dabs around the lens edge and inserted into the housing. 24 hours later, with little pressure pops out. Good, was able to remove the e6000 and start over.

Now having the canopy glue, that reminds me of elmers, white and runny.

Squeeze out a small puddle, using a toothpick, run the inside rim with the glue. Install the lens.

Already this is looking up, did the other 3. Here is where the canopy glue really showed its value.

Using the same method to apply . I then went around the back side of the lens outer edge.

The clue actually sucked down into a gap that was between the outer edge and the bezel.

Imagine the lens now in a glue gasket. That bonds to the front face of the lens edge, and back side, with the clue bridging the 2 together.

Canopy Glue easy to use, best results, highly recommend it
