Default Amateur TRX-4

I am new to the RC and Crawler world. I picked up a TRX-4 Bronco in April (wife/kids got it as b-day gift). I don't have much time, but love it so far. It isn't nearly as nice as some I've seen here, but started to play around with some parts / mods.

- Power HD Steering Servo (original crapped out)
- MIP Wide Track Kit
- Cheap bead locks
- Cheap tires
- Wheel hubs
- Upper decal removal

Looks really nice. Remember we have started somewhere with a RC.

It looks a ton better without the top decal! The wheels are also perfect. Nice start!

I'm not sure what the MIP wide track kit is or why you'd want it? If it just makes the truck wider I'd suggest you resist buying it. It will make your turning radius worse.

Where did you get the wheels?

I really like the wheels, rig looks good.
I’m with Jato, pass on the widetrack stub axles and just pick up a set of SSD portal covers for the front. That’ll give you a bit more weight down low, that would be a good place to start upgrading and you will see a difference.

Thanks for the comments. I can't take credit for removing the top decal, I actually saw it on the forum and thought it looked great so I copied!

I bought the wide-track kit thinking it would help with flipping over while I bash it with my daughters (they like chasing it, not really into crawling). Not sure it did much of anything though....

For those asking about where I got the wheels, it's a different seller but they are on ebay:

The wheels appear to be GMade knockoffs so if you want something in the US look for GMade SR02 wheels.

1.9" Beadlock truck wheels - JunFac

GMade offers them in about 4 different colors and they include scale hardware.

I took the TRX-4 out for the first time since the new tires and MIP Wide Track Kit. Unfortunately when articulated or when turning, the tires now rub the body. So it was a short trek.

I'm assuming it's the wide track kit making it rub, not the tires. If so, it's coming out unless there are any other suggestions.

Also, minor addition: Traxxas Push Bar.

You could raise the body a single hole or two to see if that helps.

I decided on upgrading the front / rear bumpers. I got a SSD front bumper and a GRC Rear bumper.

I really like the minimalist front bumper, but the rear isn't long enough to protect the corners of the body. Should have done more research before purchasing...

So I ended up sanding and painting the stock bumper flat black. It will have to due for now.

Yea... That rear bumper is intended to use with the D110 body, not the Bronco. The painted stock one looks good though. I'm running that SSD front also.... looks nice and clean and really improves your approach.

I also put on the following:

- STRC Diff covers (F & R)
- Generic Brass Front Steering Knuckle Portal Covers
- Generic Brass Front Steering Knuckles
- Xtra Speed Aluminum Front C Hubs

Need more brass blackening on this one..

Looks good! I kinda like the stock rear bumper painted black, I've seen some real ones like that.

I purchased some ebay beadlocks and tires, I can't seem to be satisfied with any wheel/tire setup....

I had to do some grinding to make them clear.

I had to take it out for a test run...

Unfortunately it was a very short run. The motor started smoking and it looks like I didn't grind down enough and burned up the motor.

You can see where it was rubbing in back:

Sorry to hear about the motor but think of it as an opportunity to install the HH Trailmaster Sport 550 21t for about $20. I also recommend that you consider switching to a 9t pinion while you are in there.

Agree, quality of the Gmade’s hardware and paintjob is better. The offset of the knock-offs however is more comparable to stock. But if you want to go narrower, the SRo2’s help a bit.
