JDm74's Blazer

Gonna go ahead and start this now since some parts have rolled in. This won't be some sort of "epic build" because I'm not that talented, lol. Mostly just a record of what I'm doing so people that come after me have something that pops up in their searches.

This is my first TRX-4 and as Jato knows I had a bit of trouble justifying it. We did some searching and found just enough evidence of a real 1:1 K5 on portals to get me to go ahead and pull the trigger. I originally wanted the TRX-4 Sport assembly kit but I really want the selectable lockers. After this dropped I was sold as the K5 has always been cool to me and this is my chance to actually own one.

New servo and ESC. Nothing special or ground breaking. Hoping the truck arrives at the LHS next week or so.

Not my truck but pick of the version I am getting.

Stay tuned.

Thanks guys. Does anybody have a Traxxas link in their transmitter? I have one in my UDR and I was thinking about taking it out and putting it in this one when it comes in. Do I need one in the UDR Transmitter to keep my settings there or can I swap it around?

Edit: Found the answer. For those wondering:

With the Link you can just use the same transmitter with multiple receivers as well. Up to 30 different models I believe.

Yeah but did the 1:1 run off of an electric motor and use a HW 80 ESC? Don't think so. So send it all to me. Yeah I'm being an ass. But c'mon? Justify it? These are frickin toys. Frick a frick!
Looking forward to build updates/photos!

Yeah I saw that after the fact. That should help a lot to reduce my sea of transmitters.

The Red and Black Blazer is the perfect candidate for your local Fire Authority themed Blazer. I think my son might have a Hot Wheels Fire Dept. Blazer.

Agreed, but I think this will get a custom body like almost all my crawlers.

Hey, look! More parts arrived for a truck I don't have! So since the TRX-4 has selectable lockers, I don't think anybody makes a Ox Locker diff cover for it, annnnndddd RPP was having a 15% off sale on St. Patrick's day; I present these (I also despise chrome diff covers):

I’m not a fan of chrome diff covers either, but I might just try painting mine black.

I saw the new G-wagon comes with black diff covers so if you could figure out the part number for those that would be pretty cheap, not as cheap as painting them though.

Strip the chrome off with Easy Off oven cleaner then paint them. Done.

Re: JDm74's Blazer

I knew there was a way to remove the chrome, Just couldn’t remember what you had to use. Thanks!

Gotta be easy with that oven cleaner. Just cleaned an old 350sbc with some and that stuff is potent. Works great just stay out of the wind lol

Hey look, even more stuff for a truck I don't have yet! This is getting old. Just release it already Traxxas.

Nice wheels, JDM! I didn't realize someone made a beadlock style Chevy truck rallye wheel. What brand and model are they?

BTW, I would have to think your truck should be arriving very soon. Mine came into my LHS on Tuesday. "thumbsup"
