Default speed controller issues

I can't get the speed controller set to level 5 setting. Should I change the speed controller to another brand? What brand will work with the traxxas receiver?

I am going to assume you are referring to the stock TRX4 XL5 ESC since you did not provide a great deal of information. Short answer is, It Depends. What do you want to accomplish? What kind of driving do you normally do, fast or slow? What motor are you running or want to run? Again, assuming you are running the stock TRX4 Titan 550 21T motor the go to replacement ESC is the Hobbywing WP1080 for $42. Under no circumstance would I ever recommend spending money on a replacement XL5.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Most ESC will work with that TX with no problem. Hobbywing 1080 is by far the way to go without breaking the bank.

I built the TRX4 chassis kit and didn't even bother with the stock traxxas esc I went straight to the Hobbywing HW1080
