I heard back from Holmes Hobbies and they said that VRC Hobbies is one of their wholesalers and just ordered 10 of the Crawlmaster 550 13t motors, and said I should be good with them. So I placed an order for one.

Now I just need to figure out what gearing I should run with this motor.

Thanks

I would try stock gearing included with the Kit first, and then decide from there. It’s pretty easy to change the pinion and spur on a trx4.

Thanks everyone for your help. I ended up changing my motor order to a Crawlmaster Sport 12T 550. Until I looked more closely at HH's site, I did not realize how much slower the 13T was. So 12T for me!

Looks Like the trx4 kit shows up Tuesday, the Hobby WindgWP1080 Thursday, and not sure on the receiver and motor. At least I will get the kit next week and can start assembling it.

I would like to add some SSD brass weights like I did on my Ascender, but I might wait a while this time and drive the truck as is first. I did tons of upgrades to my Ascender before I ever drove it. In retrospect I wish that I would have driven it stock for a while to see how it performed first. Then I could have done the upgrades later. That would have allowed me to see what difference they made, and just to have had things to look forward to upgrading and modding the truck with at a latter time.

Getting excited.

I put the same crawl Master 12T motor in my trx4 sport. I love it! My truck is stock. I run a 2200 Mah 3s battery in the front battery tray to add more weight upfront, and it's not enough. I will be adding SSD brass portal weights. If you do a lot of climbing, you will definitely need weight up front

Thanks, that is the plan, just thought I would mess around with it first. What gearing are you running with the Crawlmaster Sport 12T?

Best deal in the world on brass portal covers, I have some and they look awesome painted black and fit perfect. $25 for the whole truck.

eBay and rpp hobby are my go to for ordering if it’s not something directly from the manufacturer. Great luck!

Just be mindful of where the product is coming from.

If it’s China, it gets the slow boat, so keep that in mind.

Oh yeah, I have had the experience a few times. The swampers I’m running now came from China, and they took nearly a month to get here.

Stomp,

I went the same route of upgrading one or 2 items at a time as well.

I’m really glad I did that.

That way you get to see the improvement (or not) each time.

The SSD portal brass was a great upgrade for me. Fit and finish was great! I think I was 1.5 months into my another expensive hobby foray before I installed them.

So I definitely noticed the improvement over stock.

Only a few days, ended up shipping from SoCal. Just couldn't pass at that price.

I always check the "Ships from USA" button when playing on ebay.
