Forgot a couple more

Yes there’s a running creek built into the course but it’s up to you if you want to go down it

Rough road ahead up hill then swings around and back down hill

Not sure how much of a drive it would be for you but it’s worth the drive IMO. If you do plan to go call ahead first as the could be rebuilding the course. They try to change it up often. People were nice pits were nice and on site shop made it even better.

It's about a 2.5 hour drive for me. A few RC buddies in my area went up there when it first opened in 2018. I've been following them (Oakhill Scale Trailz) on FB and from what I've seen it looks pretty cool. It would be a great place to go when the weather is bad.

I'm hoping to get a chance to check it out sometime this year!

It’s a fun course for sure. They put some time and effort into and it shows. When it’s bitter cold out it’s a nice place to hit up

I understand you on the drive as it’s almost 2 hrs for me. It’s definitely a cool place to check out. With it being chilly out it was nice to be warm as it was heated. If you do plan to go keep an eye on the weather especially for snow. Storms coming off the Lake Erie like to dump the snow fast and heavy.

Spirit hobby looks sweet! Really cool pics and the truck is a beauty. "thumbsup"

Glad it’s performing well for you, definitely a heck of a platform they have here with the VFD.

Re: Carpetfuzz's VS4-10 PRO

Did some tinkering around over the weekend with the front motor cover. I had some issues with the fit of the cover. The cover is designed for both servos to sit flat on the servo mount brace. Both of mine are raised to fit for clearance issues

The bottom of the cover starts out looking like this

After some sanding here’s the end result

The cover now drops into place with no problems

The new motor is a perfect fit now but something was just “off”. After a couple emails the problem was solved.

Breathing some life into the motor now.

I am really happy with the new look.

Can you please explain your SSD shock setup? What oil weight are you running? What springs? Why did you change the ball swivel links in the rod ends? Did they fit on the axles without some modifications?

I was running Associated 40wt oil at the time of these photos. The springs were what came with the SSD shocks. Everything felt really good with this setup. I have since pulled the SSD shocks off and replaced with the Element Factory Team bronze shocks. More on those later. The SSD shocks are going on another VS4 I am building for my son. They have been cleaned out and replaced with Associated 55wt oil with the same springs. They feel a tad bit stiff in this setup but I think they will still be just fine. For me 50wt is probably the magic number. Just remember to lube the orings in the shocks.
As for the ball swivels I was at a local competition and they were in a vendors booth. They are the VP brass balls. I had to file the ends down a little bit to get them to fit but was no problem. A couple passes on the file and they fit just fine. If I remember correctly the SSD balls fit also with no problems. If I wouldn’t have seen the VP brass ones I would have just used the SSD ones.
