Default Hot Stuff Scout Inspired VS410 Pro

First off, I blame imthatguy. His video review of the VS410 Pro cost me a lot of money.

And it’s worth every penny.

I received an email from RPP Hobby last weekend indicating that the VS410 Pro was in stock, which was a bit of a surprise as it wasn’t supposed to be released until this week. I know the folks at Vanquish have been busting their butts to get these things ready and it was very, very cool to see that email. Ordered a Black Editon Pro and (im)patiently waited for my shipping notice the next day.

While I waited, I started thinking about paint schemes. Part of me wanted to just keep it simple, part of me wanted to challenge myself a bit. Then I found this on Google and knew immediately I had to give it a shot.

I really like the new Vanquish Method 101 V2 wheels. They have depth to them compared to the first versions and really suit this truck in my opinion, so I ordered a set of black with grey rings, .350 SLW hubs, and used some Locked Up scale lug hardware. I should note that their HD tool does NOT work with these wheels, and the standard one barely fit.

I somewhat expected to find the laser cut foam inside the box of this one, similar to the Origin, but that was not the case. No big deal, everything is packaged nicely.

I grabbed myself a sweet tea and went to work.

I didn’t take much for photos through the build process but found it interesting that there was a revision to the parts in the box already. Quite glad this was caught before these shipped. Again, VP working very hard to ensure this kit is ready to go for their customers.

The VFD transmission. Wow. Seriously, what an amazing piece of engineering. The motor is low, it’s strong, the metal bearing plates and 6mm thick motor plate are incredible.

I used an automotive rubberized undercoating in the fender wells for some added depth.

After a very busy weekend filled with masking and painting, my truck was done.

I plan on finishing installing the electronics this week, maybe add some scale accessories. Very excited to get this out for a run!

Wow! This truck is incredible. I love the scheme and talk about flawless execution.

Would you mind sharing which masking tapes you used? (Or liquid?) and how you got the scout lettering so clean?

Well done

Picked up a new Spektrum DX5 Rugged for this truck as well. The receiver is nice and small, fit into the fuel cell quite nicely.

First, I would like to say Congratulations on your new rig. Such a beautiful and god design on the gearbox. But, may I know how does this rig perform on steep hill? Any noticeable torque twist so far? Thank you

Thank you. I use Tamiya yellow masking tape for everything. Lettering is just a lot of patience and a fresh No.11 Xacto blade.

Thank you. I haven't actually run the truck yet, I'm working on electronics now.

WOW, beautiful paint job! I saw you post pics of this a few days ago on FB and was blown away by it. Great job and great find of that classic pic of the "Hot Stuff".

I just received my Pro yesterday, and have been racking my brain on a cool paint job for the last month.

Subscribed and can't wait to see more pics!
